5. Well, how 'bout that, two of my favorite DU'ers I missed the last

DUDQ get together. I have been away for days...seems longer. I am not sure what category they belong in but the"political suicide for contesting" and the "no matter what * will be..." were two of the most dramatic pieces I have seen popping on and off DU. I just love drama. A grand performance was observed by all. Bravo!

I don't know what kind of music you're into (my taste in music is all over the place -- I work for a distributor), but he writes the most beautiful songs. It's a kind of "happy to be sad" music. Indy rock from Boston, but small. They're one of those great bands that 10 people have heard.

"Happiness moves gracefully from lilting pop gems such as "Crestfallen" to the lover's kiss-off "Clear Spot"; from the pulsating riff that propels the wistfully cynical title track to the gloriously beautiful "Wait to Stop," a string- laden weeper that is something of a throwback to the complex studio concoctions of Brian Wilson's best work with the Beach Boys. Overcome by Happiness, with its conspicuous lack of country leanings, is an astoundingly brave move for someone so critically adored by the alternative set. It is both a gorgeous and lyrical album.
