What Pitt and Dems should Sing on Senate Floor, Thursday....
Edited on Tue Jan-04-05 08:22 PM by KoKo01
Stand Up, Stand Up for Jesus
514. Stand Up, Stand Up for Jesus. ... 1. Stand up, stand up for Jesus, ye soldiers of the cross; lift high his royal banner, it must not suffer loss. ...

Stand up, stand up for Jesus,
ye soldiers of the cross;
lift high his royal banner,
it must not suffer loss.
From victory unto victory
his army shall he lead,
till every foe is vanquished,
and Christ is Lord indeed.

2. Stand up, stand up for Jesus,
the trumpet call obey;
forth to the mighty conflict,
in this his glorious day.
Ye that are brave now serve him
against unnumbered foes;
let courage rise with danger,
and strength to strength oppose.

3. Stand up, stand up for Jesus,
stand in his strength alone;
the arm of flesh will fail you,
ye dare not trust your own.
Put on the gospel armor,
each piece put on with prayer;
where duty calls or danger,
be never wanting there.

4. Stand up, stand up for Jesus,
the strife will not be long;
this day the noise of battle,
the next the victor's song.
To those who vanquish evil
a crown of life shall be;
they with the King of Glory
shall reign eternally.

---------------

Posting in answer to Pitt's post which will be up on "Truthout" sometime tonight.

If he'd posted the stanza's of this old hymn the Senate might have been on it's feet shouting in support of Conyers....:D

On EDIT: The House could use a rousing rendition of this on Condi's Organ. She probably plays it over and over for the "Lil' Emperor at Camp David every weekend he's there.

1. This little light of mine
tip of the hat to Dagmar Celeste in Columbus yesterday:

This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine.
This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine,
let it shine, let it shine, let it shine.

Won't let Satan blow it out.
I'm gonna let it shine.
Won't let Satan blow it out.
I'm gonna let it shine, let it shine, let it shine, let it shine.

Let it shine til Jesus comes.
I'm gonna let it shine.
Let it shine til Jesus comes.
I'm gonna let it shine, let it shine, let it shine, let it shine.

Hide it under a bushel - NO!
I'm gonna let it shine.
Hide it under a bushel - NO!
I'm gonna let it shine, Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine.

Let it shine over the whole wide world,
I'm gonna let it shine.
Let it shine over the whole wide world,
I'm gonna let it shine, let it shine, let it shine, let it shine.

2. Your's is the true song they should sing. I was being "ironic" about
Pitt's post. The title of his article got that Hymn in my head...and I was thinking about the Religious Right and how they only stand up for themselves.. :shrug:

Your's is the true "hymn/song" they should be singing. "Let that little light SHINE, SHINE, SHINE!" In the darkness....only one light can lead folks to the Freedom Trail....

5. When Conyers asks for support,
someone should start singing the national anthem. They'd have to stand for it and Conyers would have his support. :bounce:

4. Jesus loves the little children
http://www.cyberhymnal.org/htm/j/e/jesloves.htm

the refrain is the only part I remember singing in Sunday School ...some of the verses many here would not like

Words: C. Herbert Woolston. Woolston was one of George Root’s favorite lyricists. Children often sing just the refrain, which is a song all to itself!

Music: George F. Root (1820-1895) (MIDI, score). Root originally wrote this tune for the American civil war song “Tramp, Tramp, Tramp.”

Jesus calls the children dear,
“Come to me and never fear,
For I love the little children of the world;
I will take you by the hand,
Lead you to the better land,
For I love the little children of the world.”

Refrain

Jesus loves the little children,
All the children of the world.
Red and yellow, black and white,
All are precious in His sight,
Jesus loves the little children of the world.

6. I always opt for "Amazing Grace" when it comes to religious
songs.

"Was blind but now I see ...."

7. Maybe we should have donated to send a Choir to spur them on...they
obviously need a "Pep" infusion of the hymns posted on this thread. :shrug: It might have made a great "stunt" to get their attention.

We have some wonderful choirs in DC...and we should have thought of this
given how our House and Senate are so inclined to say that we Americans just don't have enough "values" these days.

8. You Can't Kill The Spirit
Your choice is a good one but "You can't kill the spirit" is a notch or two better.

9. OH NO! I have a MUCH better song (all together now) mi, mi, mi
Yeah, it's sad, believe me missy,
When you're born to be a sissy,
Without the vim and verve.
But I could show my prowess,
Be a lion not a mowess,
If I only had the nerve

I'm afraid there's no denyin'
I'm just a dandelion
A fate I don't deserve.
I'd be brave as a blizzard ...

Cheney: I'd be gentle as a lizard ...

Delay: I'd be clever as a gizzard ...

Feinstein: If the Wizard is a wizard who will serve.
