Conyers is going to lynch Blackwell - wait and see
Edited on Tue Jan-04-05 08:48 PM by Ugnmoose
You only have to look at the questions Conyers posed to Blackwell (to which he got no meaningful response) to know that Conyers has got him in the cross hairs. I suspect alot of the case that will be made to the Senators and ultimately the Congress on the 6th will be centered around hard evidence of Blackwells deliberate and overt effort to suppress votes, phony the vote count and stifle the recount, plus some other goodies thrown in for good measure. I think when it is all over this dude is going down big time. And when he does fall I think alot of other folks are gonna follow.

Ring Around The Rosey, A Pocket Full of Posey, Blackwell, Bushco
They All Fall Down!!!

3. Damn! I wanna believe ...
but I am so afraid of getting my hopes up again. Everytime we think they're going down, they get stronger. :-(

I do believe in Conyers ... he's a good guy. I just hope he can pull it off.

6. I don't think Blackwell has played this smartly
His response is total denial and his attitude is extremely dismissive. This is probably what he was told to do, but I don't think it will work for him in the broad daylight of court when he is forced to testify.

It is the classic tried and true strategy. I'm only gonna testify if forced and then only after exhausting all legal means to do so.

11. PLEASE change the word lynch
in your post title. I'm aghast that you'd use such a word. If you're not aware of what the word means, here you go.

From Merriam Webster: To put to death by mob action without legal sanction of law or due process.

The use of the word is odious in this circumstance, particularly as Blackwell is African-American.

12. i second the motion to change the word lynch...
lynch has negative racial connotations (not saying you're racist, just a innocent mistake).

28. You forgot the hanging bit...
Hanging, drawing and quartering. This was the ultimate punishment available in English law for men who had been convicted of High Treason. Women were burned at the stake instead, apparently for the sake of decency.

31. Naw, W. will pardon him so he wont rat them out. However, they
made a mistake when they thought the DNC wouldnt go after an african-american for fear of alienating their base (the old Clarence Thomas startegy). They forgot that there are plenty of african-american Democratics who are not afraid of being labeled racist for going after Blackwell.

Bush is going to pardon Rove, too, if the investigation gets that high. What I havent been able to figure out is why the Bush mafia doesn't rub out Karl Rove. Now that the dirty work is done, he is a major embarassment. I have to suppose that he has lots of dirty secrets stashed away in safe deposit boxes all over the country.

33. Ultimate Irony: Repugs in Congress are after CA's Sec of State...
Ney has launched a Congressional investigation into supposed wrongdoing by Kevin Shelley, CA's Democratic Secretary of State.

They criticized him for spending federal funds to hire <gasp> "Democratic operatives" as "consultants and voter outreach workers". The Repugs have a problem with that, but it's okay for Kenneth Blackwell to let Diebold, Triad, and other GOP-donors count votes, produce voting machines, and dissassemble computers during Ohio's recount!

They're also attempting to crucify Shelley for

delaying spending federal funds on voting machines--even though that delay was due to a lawsuit he filed against Diebold to keep their hackable electronic voting machines out of CA! If the Repugs
really want to check out crooked secretaries of state, they should start with Ohio and Florida.

Californians better organize an effort to protect Shelley and prevent getting another Katherine Harris in his place, which clearly is the Republicans goal here.

Author of law providing election funds wants probe" by
