14. I don't understand how people consider this political suicide.
Its the right thing to do. It takes guts and its what the United States was supposedly about. Dissent is true patriotism. All the Democratic Senators need to quit worrying about their mortgages and stand up and point out whats wrong with this country. I personally gave $500 this past year starting with Dean and MoveOn and then when Kerry was chosen I supported him but if no senator stands up against this the Democratic party will not see another penny from me. I'm pretty disappointed with the way Kerry conceded. DU has been the only backbone the Democratic party has these days. I wish it wasn't so but it is. Conyers is one great guy though. A true patriot. The rest of them should have been raising hell from the get go.

15. Spin is all, and Republicans will control any inquiry
Edited on Tue Jan-04-05 10:31 PM by jpgray
If a majority of Americans believe Saddam was involved with 9/11, it won't be hard to turn counting every vote into anti-American activity. Look what they did to Gore when he didn't roll over and die, but rolled over, whimpered and then died.

They have a majority, we have only circumstantial evidence (at this point). They could turn it into a circus that is humiliating for us and supremely good PR for them. That's what the Democrats are afraid of. My view is damn the torpedoes and all that, but their concerns about the political consequences aren't totally spurious.

4. Is this like the Nelson rumor?
I'll believe it when I hear it from her own mouth, not before.

19. I'd like to see Byrd sign on.
He's a serious constitutional advocate and the way this needs to be fought is with the constitution in mind not politics. It would reflect well on him because of his past as well. He could redeem himself once and for all by standing up in the modern day and saying how blacks have been disenfranchised during this election. I am hopeful that he stands up.

17. Any Senator who stands & fights for this cause of justice will earn
the gratitude of half this nation and more then likely their pocket books as well, who better to donate to then someone who would listen to the will of the people whom she serves ?? I would very much like to be that Senator if I was in office, just think about it, it worked for Kerry did it not, most funds ever raised in Demo history, hmmmm.

20. Half the nation? Probably at first only a tiny fraction of it
Potentially though, I would say more than half.
