How many called Senator Clinton's office and asked for her to stand with
Conyers?

I did. I called her office yesterday, and I also asked the aid specifically if Senator Clinton received these messages daily and she said Mrs. Clinton was briefed on all messages daily.

Senator Clinton was interviewed on KPFA this afternoon and said "she was not aware of" anyone asking her to stand up and support Congressman Conyers.

I think her office needs some calls tomorrow.

It appears someone is lying.

Mods. Please do not lock. I posted this thread in General Discussion as well.

1. If Hillary Clinton hasn't heard of all this by now, that is really scary.
How many other Senators don't have a clue?

Do they rely on the MSM for news and ignore what is sent to their offices?

How do we get through to our Senators if calling, faxing, and emailing do no good?

Pretty soon, they're overwhelmed, and need a raise for all the "work" they do controlling us for their corporate masters.

4. Well, Madison, you bring up a good question.
Either Senator Clinton knows that this is indeed happening and its almost impossible, neglectful of her duties and totally irresponsible if she doesnt know what is going on, and/or she is not telling the truth,

or she is not receiving her messages because she doesnt want to receive them or because they are not being given to her.

None of these are the greatest scenarios.

17. Her 'not hearing about it' may be related to Bill on Larry King
recently with Poppy Bush.

I really don't feel she's our most likely candidate for speaking out. Her eyes are too set on 'the prize' of 08.

22. good point
i have had a bad feeling about her since 9/11 she has been republican light. she hasn't been about New York but about flying under the radar. its apparent when she gave a glowing review of Kerik!!

thing is they think we dont notice and most people dont. so long as they have a job and life goes on.

but like you said she is married to Bill and that marriage is a business.

On January 7th time to start looking at our senators very carefully.

7. She is lying.
For one of two reasons:

1. She is completely aware and has had plans to keep this 'below the radar', in order to avoid press, leaks to Repugs, etc in order facilitate success in contesting.

or

2. She is completely aware and doesn't give a fuck, ie: it's not important to her, she's afraid, or believes it's futile - in other words a spineless bitch like the rest of demos that won't contest.

solidify my support for her and I believe almost every other American as well. I believe it would ensure her presidency.

If that is true, that makes me believe our election system is definably rigged and she's ready and willing for it to stay the same.

In other words, she cares more for her ascendency than she does the country?

But surely Dem leaders must know there won't be any free election next time if this one is allowed to stand? If not one Senator responds- what then?

46. Cagey's one thing, denial is another.
I find it to be a disrespectful response to her constituents, Congressman Conyers and Americans that have been working so hard on this issue.

Seems a more more statesmanlike answer would have been to say something to the effect I have heard the concerns, I am concerned myself, and Im looking at the best way to proceed forward on it.

Her answer was a total denial of responsibility on what is the biggest issue facing our Democracy. It was dishonest and I believe a little shady for someone who I personally heard speak on how we must make election reform a top issue. It lacks ethics and integrity. Also, if this had been the first 'betrayal' so to speak from Mrs. Clinton, that would be understandable. Looking at her voting record, she has taken essentially no stands on anything of significance since she's been in office, atleast that comes to mind.

Perhaps there is a reason(s) for that, however, has she held townhalls to discuss such important issues with her supporters and constituents? Im sure the rooms would be wall to wall.

If cagey answers are acceptable for you and others, perhaps that gives a better indication why we are accepting such unacceptable answers and behavior from our own leaders and perhaps why our culture lacks a sense of courtesy, respect and concern for each other. I don't believe its okay to not do your job.

and as I stated I am no fan of Sen. Clinton's. However, I cannot pass judgment at this point of the firestorm. She did not respond the way I would have responded, or clearly how you would have responded, but given the situation I can't say I'm surprised any of them would play their cards closer to the vest than we'd like.

It seems to me to reveal more the consequences of such horrific treatment by Republicans like Newt Gingrich and the true evil they inflicted on otherwise good people. I often wonder by the Clintons compliance, seeming lack of conviction and resignation on important issues these days, if that is the end result of what the extremist Republicans have inflicted on them.

The Republican extremists and power mongers apparently set out to ruin good, decent, caring people, emotionally rape them, steal their dignity and their innocence, rob them of their spirit and then once they have taken everything they possibly could, if they still *need* you, they will pat you on the back and invite you into their club. Often those abused and treated in such a manner are so shell shocked and beaten down at that point, many times they will accept the offer with the devil(s).

Not to say this is how it is for the Clintons, however, it is definitely how many power abusers, bullies (and some Republicans) work and how they can damage and even ruin people and their lives, and consequently get those who otherwise wouldn't, to identify more with the offender.

42. I called yesterday and was told:
Edited on Wed Jan-05-05 11:00 AM by bear425
Senator Clinton sent legal teams to both of Conyers' hearings and that she is aware of the situation and is closely monitoring it. Also told that she has not, yet, issued a statement. Keep the calls going!

Senator Hillary Clinton:

(202) 224-4451

59. This is what I was told as well.
I called today and they said she was undecided. It took FOREVER to get through and they said that they have been getting huge numbers of calls on this.

45. her lie, "i didnt know" and bills lie "fair and square"
that has done it for me. they dont even have to deal with the issue of voter fraud. i want to know why jillary felt it appropriate to say to people she didnt know. lets deal with where we are at. call her, hte way we want repugs to call bush. and the media to call bush

52. I e-mailed her & Schumer& called both their DC & NY Offices
Was told: "They are aware and paying close attention to the situation, but have not arrived at a decision yet". I told both of their offices I hoped they wouldn't embarrass us with their silence, and let Rep. Conyers & the Black Caucus down, like they did in 2001. I also added, what a lovely tribute it would be to Rep. Shirley Chisholm, if they spoke up, the way she always did.

I'm not holding my breath.

And I'm never voting for either one of them again, if they don't show some backbone. I've been disappointed by the both of them in the past & have let it go, but no more.

57. I just called about 1/2 hour ago...and I sent an email yesterday!!
Edited on Wed Jan-05-05 05:54 PM by BrklynLiberal
Had to leave message at NYC number DC mailbox was full.

Also did the same for Schumer. Spoke to a very polite young lady at the NYC number.

Told both that I would be VERY reluctant to vote for them ever again if they did not have the courage to stand up for voters rights in this situation, since all that Conyers was asking for was to make sure that all the votes were counted.

61. I left a message in her DC Box before it filled up.

The letters I mailed to her, Schumer, Boxer, Byrd, and about a half-dozen other Dem. Senators should have arrived in their DC offices this afternoon.
