Edited on Wed Jan-05-05 12:58 AM by AmerDem
MM message is totally conflicting in this write up.

First he writes, "It's rough to lose two elections in a row when the first one you actually won and the second one you should have won."...uh, we could have won the second one? How about the second one was a repeat of the first one.

Then he says, "The list of possible offenses of how voters were denied access to the polls and how over a hundred thousand of their votes have yet to be counted is more than worthy of your consideration. It may not change the outcome, but you have a supreme responsibility to make sure that EVERY vote is counted."....uh, It may not change the outcome? Are you saying now MM that you feel there is a possibility that it could be overturned?

MM can't have it both ways.

edit: my reply was supposed to go to the opening post not to the person who provide a link. The link obviously is appreciated.

57. That bothered me too. But it lets the Senators off the hook of having to
defeat the evil empire in one fell swoop, which might drive some to dawn their pink tutus.

59. Just MM's way of saying he didn't go without a splash.
Probably knew he offended his base with his caving in on this one. This letter does little at this point in time.

MM's gig is to be loud, obnoxious and hard to miss. He was quiet and quick to concede on this election. There is no real momentum for a senator to ride here. This letter or a splash about the atrocities of the election 2 freakin months ago might have helped.

He didn't have to say FRAUD back then either to have stood up for the people who needed him. None of them did. That's what I don't get.

64. and the '"we lost by 3 million votes" bothers me.
Michael - Buddy - Karen Hughes told Bush he lost - Zogby predicted 317 EVs for Kerry - the exit polls - (used to verify elections in other banana republics) show a clear Kerry win. I don't think we can take Bush's 3 million popular vote lead for granted - the whole thing stinks!! Elections don't turn around like that in the last few hours of counting.

I'm going to sound like a nut case but who cares -- People - stop thinking like Americans who can trust elections and expect people to do the right thing. MAYBE that America is in peril - maybe it always has been. Democracies are fragile things. We need to always be on our guard or else our democracy might be gone before we even miss it!

66. What alteration of the Exit Polls did to MM and others' fighting spirit...
Imagine if Michael Moore had NOT been emotionally destroyed--as so many were--by the alteration of the Exit Polls (which showed a Kerry win) on Election night, thinking that all our passion and hard work went for nothing.

Imagine if he and others had known from the beginning that the Exit Polls said Kerry won.

In Germany, Canada, the Ukraine and the rest of the free world, the official results and the Exit Polls are kept separate. If the Exit Polls are different from the official results, suspicion of fraud is aroused, and recounts and audits are instituted.

Not here. Even with the US testing out a controversial new election system-manufactured by Bush "Pioneers," with the source code that tabulates all our votes held by them as secret, proprietary information, and with no paper trail in a third of the country--no one thought it necessary to provide a fraud check of this system, as is routinely done in other countries.

So, as the "official results" from the Republican controlled central vote tabulators came in to the networks, on Election day--fed by AP--the Exit Polls, which showed a Kerry win, were ADJUSTED to match the "official results," making it appear that Bush won both the Exit Polls and the "official results."

In the Ukraine, they rioted over the discrepancy between the Exit Polls and the "official results"--and held a new election!

In the US, the emotional devastation of all those Kerry voters and supporters on Election night, thinking Bush won and there was no hope, changed the outcome here--no riots, no mass protests, no calls for immediate investigations and a re-vote. The BushCons won--once more--with an ILLUSION.

This makes me so-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o sad!

It also makes me very, very, ve-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-ry angry!

The TV networks.
AP.
Mitofsky (the Pollster).
And the untouchables, Bush and the BushCons.

These are the culprits. And since Bush and the BushCons are untouchable (unless the Democrats take them on), we must target this media list, and our goal should be justice, not reform.

They robbed us of a revolution. They gave us Bush, Part II, fascism in America.

Take no prisoners!

(Note: Mitofsky has his excuses for giving us polluted Exit Polls. None hold up. They do it differently everywhere else. He knows that. He knows why. And he and the networks damn well knew that this new election system was as insecure, hackable and fraud prone as it could be. The networks kept THIS information from the American people as well.)

(Note2: The Democratic leadership is guilty of a failure of leadership, it's true--on the election system and on the handling of the Exit Poll. Why did they permit BushCons to gain control of the voting system? When Tom Delay blockaded them on election transparency, why didn't they scream bloody murder--and warn the voters during the campaign? And, finally, KNOWING how fraud prone this election system was, why didn't they conduct their OWN Exit Poll? I don't think they're suicidal, exactly. I think they're inattentive, corrupt, collusive and live in a bubble of privilege. So I don't think THEY should be on this particular target list (those who are actively destroying our democracy)--or if so, put them way down on the list. They have very little power in BushCon America, and they don't use it well.)

15. Thanks
from Michael Moore

Dear Members of the U.S. Senate,

Welcome back! The 109th session of Congress has just begun. I'm watching you on C-SPAN right now and you all look so snap-happy and clean-faced. It's like the first day of school all over again, isn't it?

I have a favor to ask of you. Something isn't right with the vote from Ohio. Seems a lot of people didn't get to vote. And those who did, thousands of theirs weren't counted.

Does that seem right to you? I'm just asking. Forget about partisan politics for a moment and ask yourself if there is a more basic right, in a democracy, than the right of the people to vote AND have ALL their votes counted?

Now, I know a lot of you wish this little problem of Ohio would just go away. And many of you who wish this are Democrats. You just want to move on (no pun intended!). I can't say I blame you. It's rough to lose two elections in a row when the first one you actually won and the second one you should have won. And it seems this time around, about 3 million more Americans preferred to continue the war in Iraq and give the rich more tax breaks than those who didn't. No sense living in denial about that.

But something isn't right in Ohio and more than a dozen members of the House of Representatives believe it is worth investigating.

So on Thursday at 1:00pm, Rep. John Conyers of Detroit will rise and object to the vote count in Ohio. According to the laws of this land, he will not be allowed to speak unless at least one of you -- one member of the United States Senate -- agrees to let him have the floor.

A very embarrassing moment during the last session of Congress occurred in the first week when none of you would allow the members of Congress who were black to have the floor to object to the Florida vote count. Remember that? You thought no one would ever notice, didn't you? You certainly lucked out that night when the networks decided not to show how you shut down every single member of the Congressional Black Caucus.

No such luck this year. Everyone now knows about that moment of shame. Thank you? You’re welcome.

But this Thursday, at 1:00pm, you will have a chance to redeem yourself.

Congressman Conyers and a dozen other members of Congress have some serious questions about how the Republican secretary of state in Ohio (who was also the state’s co-chair of Bush’s reelection campaign) conducted the election on November 2. The list of possible offenses of how voters were denied access to the polls and how over a hundred thousand of their votes have yet to be counted is more than worthy of your consideration. It may not change the outcome, but you have a supreme responsibility to make sure that EVERY vote is counted. Who amongst you would disagree with that?

Notice he does not mention the machines AROUND THE ENTIRE US that malfunctioned. Jay Leno and Conan O'Brien had some cryptic remarks similar to this on their shows last night as I recall. In fact Conan had Gweneth Paltrow on saying she had taken Apple to see F911 and had had to leave about 2/3rds of the way through because Apple was not happy. Conan tried to make a remark about how she was a smart baby not wanting to listen to all that liberal crap, but the way he said it made him sound like he meant something else.

This could spell good news for the Kerry Sleeping Dog scenario. If Michael has the goods on film and a senator stands, we are off to the races.
That part of Fahrenheit 9/11 was the most alarming. To see the Congressional Black Caucus shot down was disgusting.

I often view your one-liners as truly thoughtful and thought-provoking... this one hits the nail right on the head! I couldn't possibly agree more.

How could ANYONE doubt where MM is coming from? Look at how much he is done for us! Are we humans sometimes a wee bit fickle or what? hee hee

49. I love his second to last paragraph,
"It only takes one member of the House and one member of the Senate to stop the acceptance of the Electoral College vote and force a legitimate debate and investigation. Do you know why this provision is set in stone in our nation’s laws? I mean, why would we allow just two officials in a body of 535 members to throw a wrench into the works? The law exists because nothing is more sacred than the integrity of the ballot box and if there is ANY possibility of fraud or incompetence, then it MUST be addressed. Because if we don't have the vote, what are we left with?"

He makes it all so simple to understand.

I feel more confident each day that a senator will challenge.

only a short time ago...Maybe Conyers stuff. Hard to argue with all those allegations on Judiciary Committee letterhead.

58. Never doubted him for a second.
When all the trauma was flying around over the Leno appearance, I said that I'd believe John Ashcroft was a card-carrying member of the ACLU before I'd believe that Michael Moore would give up. I still stand by that.

63. Just got this via email from MM.com and it's on his front page!
This is a good thing. A little late, but a good thing and lately, I've been making sure to notice when we have something positive come up and this is one of those.

Thank you, Michael.

73. Thanks MM
I went to see P 9/11 the first day it showed here. He needs to rant and everyone else should too. We know this is not a Democracy any more. It doesn't matter if those who can get the attention ( MM, Dem. Senators, the ones who have the knowledge about the fraud) We here are ( I believe ) the majority but can't get the attention from the MSM. Instead of tiptoeing around the elephant every one has to get real about it NOW. It can only help those Senators in the long run. Their names will go down in History for saving this country.
