If Boxer does go through with this, I hope everyone understands that Bush is still going to be President. I hope so otherwise grief counselors are going to be needed on this board.

If this move somehow jumpstarts the move toward serious election reform, that would be wonderful. Personally, I think it's going to turn election reform into a horribly paralyzed and dispiriting partisan fight. We will see who's correct, I guess.

23. He'll still be occupying the White House...
and will still _not_ be President.

3. Yeah, I know that, but we need to think long-term on this one
Thank God someone is planning to stand up. I'll still believe it when I see it.

4. It is important also because...
...Congresscritters are responsible to the voters in a way that Supreme Court Justices never are.

Congress and not the courts was meant to be the final aribiters of such a dispute.

If such a path was followed in 2000/1, a lot of subsequent history would have been different.

5. You should make this into a poll. I think the huge majority of people
realize this but some may not.

Just "post poll" instead of "post message," look up top.

6. Unfortunately.
Would be nice if it sparked a real investigation though. (possibly ending in impeachment, oh the fantasy)

As for your two visions -serious reform vs. horribly paralyzing fight- I can't see anything worse than knowing we'll never have a fair election again. So bring on the partisan fighting, if that's what's needed.

will take us thru 2032. By that time the nation's capitol will be named Bushington, D. C.

Yes. He'll get his historically expensive inauguration but I'm with meganmonkey --- I'm holding out for the investigation and impeachment. EVEN BETTER THAN BEATING HIM, I THINK, BECAUSE HE GETS HIS DUE IN HISTORY NOW!

8. When someone attacks you
First you punch them in the nose...
Then you see if you can sit down and reason with them.

It looks like Boxer is going to throw a mean jab tomorrow, then we'll see if the Republicans are willing to talk.

But we ave to do this to show them we KNOW they stole the election, to publicize the fact, to demostrate they have no "mandate" and to show them we are willing to fight them tooth and nail. FORWARD!

11. Yeah, we got the memo on that already.
At this point it's more about having our representatives PAY ATTENTION TO US! People were DISENFRANCHISED and this election SUCKED DONKEY DICK in terms of being free and fair!

I just wanna get that on the public record.

Preferably with the words SUCKED DONKEY DICK in there somewhere. :silly:

I don't think we've got a chance in hell of federal level election reform. After tomorrow I'm going to start work on this from a state level. We've already got a no-BBV bill cookin' in the lege.

14. Unless the Republicans suddenly wake up Bush will be sworn in
on January 20th. I'm not expecting anything more than just getting it on record that the democratic process in this country has been compromised. But I would sure be proud of my party if they all stood together on this.

20. No, it's a long shot, but I won't give up until Jan 20th and I see
GW* sworn in to office.

If that most likely senario happens, then I will be hoping an investiation (9/ll, Iraq war, Enron, election fraud) will get enough on him to have him impeached

important than who squats in The White House. Without honest elections, America will not survive.

25. have we come down so low that we're expecting BOXER
to do something? Why should she, if the main person caved in so fast even his running mate was seen vomiting?

Kerry is not even going to BE in Washington, he's fled from duty, now as far from Washington as possible.

Let's not blame others for failing to do WHAT KERRY SHOULD BE FUCKING DOING RIGHT NOW, for instance gathering popular support for a full fledge investigation of the Ohio vote fraud RIGHT NOW.

27. I'm with you
I don't think it's unreasonable to have expected Kerry himself to take up the fight. I don't see the reasoning for saying, "he can't make it look like he's opposing," or whatever lame excuse the hopefuls can come up with.

The guy in the Ukrane was poisoned, and he still managed to lead the fight!

26. Don't Count on The Rapture To Stop It! Most Likely A Segway Accident
Edited on Wed Jan-05-05 02:54 PM by Vinnie From Indy
Personally, I do not believe that it is an absolute certainty that Shrub will be coronated. I think there is a slight chance that he might become the first human being to ever run himself over fatally with a Segway machine or he could choke on a fried banana and pretzel sandwich. Sadly, the Rapture, being a long shot anyway, would not stop BushCo. from wielding power.

It is obvious that there are many in America that talk the talk but don't walk the walk in regard to proper Christian morals and values. I believe that if God gives Earth a smack with the "rapture stick" only a few dozen people would qualify for heaven. The rest of us, including all of the religious right, would just get our hair messed up in all the fire, smoke, confusion and stuff. We would be left with millions of dusty, unraptured people milling about in confusion and anger. It is almost certain that in the days following the "rapture event" Rush would start bellowing that it was Bill Clinton's penis that has denied real American's their right to sit on a cloud and play a harp. Wal-Mart would start selling Chinese made t-shirts with "The Rapture came and went and all I got was this lousy T-shirt" printed on the back. Ann Coulter would call Jesus out as a "girly-man" and Sean Hannity would want to kill all the Buddhists, Hindu's, Taoists etc. for laughing and snickering under their breath at the rumpled, unraptured Christians. Dino Rossi would ask for a recounting of the souls raptured in Washington State and Rummy would protest by claiming that you go to a Rapture with the morals you have, not the morals you want.
