I also called Chafee's office. He doesn't have a position either. However, he is taking messages, and the staffer sounded not only supportive, but downright excited. EXCITED. THRILLED. And Chafee is a Republican! (at the moment, anyway ...)

One republican does not make a bipartisan vote. Bush got Zell Miller, remember. Want to say the RNC was bipartisan?

I can tell you right now how the media will play it: "Dems in congress try to disenfranchise Ohio to steal election for Kerry". It's going to hurt the party for years.
