My letter to Sen. Boxer
January 5, 2005

Senator Barbara Boxer
U. S. Senate
Washington, DC
FAX 202-228-3972

Dear Senator Boxer,

I am writing to request that you make a stand tomorrow and challenge the electoral vote from Ohio.

Personally, I have never been challenged in my vote, and I have been voting since 1968. However, I am a white, Anglo-Saxon Protestant, Ivy League Graduate, and fraudsters don't mess around with a vote like mine.

I was shocked and dismayed when I saw what happened to the African-American voters in Ohio. I guess like the privileged person that I am I'd always assumed that after the Civil Rights Act of the 1960s that all Americans had the right to vote. However, after viewing a short tape from November 2, 2004, I became aware that democracy is not in place in all parts of our country. That tape is available on the following page near the bottom of the page. Please take a moment to see what democracy looks like for African-Americans in Columbus, Ohio. http://www.votecobb.org/

We live in the best country in the world. It seems to be sliding down a smarmy slope with the last two presidential elections, and I just hope that someone in the Senate cares enough about our country to stand up against those who choose to disenfranchise voters.

Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,
