it would be great to actually meet many of the well known bloggers I have been reading here at DU. I'll be there in spirit.

Washington D.C. what an exciting city, so much happening all the time. That's where I woke-up politically speaking. I was there for 2 years (82-84 Reagan/Bush years) in the Army, 3rd US Infantry, "The Old Guard," Co. E "Honor Guard" at Ft. Meyer, VA (the Army base above Arlington National Cemetery). If you saw the movie "Garden of Stones" well that was what I did for 2 years in Honor Guard.

D.C., but especially Georgetown was my hang. I have a lot of fond memories. I'll have to get back there with my family and show them where I spent my service.

Now I just have to work out an excuse to watch C-SPAN tomorrow with my HS Physics students. Let me see . . . based on the average speed of sound 340m/s . . . can you all calculate the reaction rate of VP Dick Cheney when the first Representative and then Senator stands up and contests the electoral college? I'm guessing he is going to go ballistic. Perhaps we can determine the projectile motion of his head when it blows off. He better have his doctor nearby, it won't be good for his heart.
