John Kerry: "our legal teams on the ground have found no evidence"
How many times do you think we'll hear Repugs reciting John Kerry's e-mail if the challenge to the Ohio electors succeeds tomorrow? Why Kerry released the statement that he did the day before the election is contested wasn't smart...it was stupid and did nothing but give ammo to our enemies to use against us tomorrow. It wouldn't surprise me if every idiot Repug stepped up to the microphone tomorrow during the debate of the Ohio electors and recited John Kerry's own words that "Despite widespread reports of irregularities, questionable practices by some election officials and instances of lawful voters being denied the right to vote, our legal teams on the ground have found no evidence that would change the outcome of the election."

Just dumb.

2. As if we needed more evidence of his stupidity.

Bush is the biggest failure of an American President we've ever had, and Kerry still lost.

3. I agree...
If he wasn't going to say anything to support our effort then he should have just kept his mouth shut. Wondering if he is counting on our vote in 2008????? HA!

12. Why Vote for Kerry if he doesn't stand up for voters in 01 AND 05?
Edited on Wed Jan-05-05 11:16 PM by sd_UDO
On 1-6-01

all the liberal Senators stood down..

Wellstone
Hillary
Schumer
Harkin
Kennedy
Kerry
Biden

All of them

Now Kerry wants us to vote for him in 08
and he won't even STAND UP for the
Ohio and New Mexico voters of 04?

No way, John, you won't have my vote!

We the people can create UDOs.

And WIN 6 times a year!

4. In your opinion. Others would view it as the perfect feint. Read his words
He didn't say that his (Kerry's) people hadn't found 'enough' evidence.. he said he'd found no evidence that would change the outcome.

Technically, that means even if there were massive fraud, they had no single event with enough margin to turn the election.

Sounds like an intentionally overprecise observation, imho. Which can be great politics.

7. He didn't say there was no fraud
Edited on Wed Jan-05-05 10:44 PM by Goldeneye
he said there was no evidence that the election would flip. Seems simple enough to me. His position hasn't changed. He goes on to tell us to phone our senators about election reform...ironic message, since thats exactly what we are doing and exactly what needs to be done. Fricking A, if Kerry gets involved this becomes about winning and losing...its not about winning and losing ...its about reform. Got it?

8. wasn't murder, just attempted murder - no need to investigate?
" I urge you to join me in using this occasion to highlight our demand that Congress commit itself this year to reforming the electoral system. "

emphasis his

Maybe you're down because he didn't face up to the fact that the evidence points to a combined disenfranchisement and fraud that would likely change the outcome.

But read it again, you picked out 10% of the message - that says 'not trying to overturn the election' and skipped the 80% that says 'elections were unacceptably foul, there was much cheating, people were intentionally prevented from voting, there is evidence, this is the change to force the republican congress to take proper action on the issue'

10. Ethics is a big problem with most politicians apparently; widespread fraud
is clear; but many obviously believe that if you can't prove that the level of fraud was enough to change the result of the election, there's no point in going further.
But that's an obsurd and unethical conclusion. If, as in this case there is systematic suppression of minority voters(violation of constitution) and systematic vote machine fraud(a serious crime) and other clear cases of ballot stuffing and vote manipulation(serious crimes), this should not go unpunished or be allowed to stand, irregardless of whether the fraud and malfeasance resulted in twice as much votes as the win margin or half as much as the margin.
What am I missing? Has our country become so corrupt that violations of the constitution and law are not important?
Just winning is what matters??
