WTF is Kerry doing in Iraq? Not bashing just asking... |
|
I can appreciate the fact that he is not going to participate in his constitutional duties. I can guess why, but it's still a bummer. But WTF is he doing in Iraq? If by some miracle, he becomes President, no matter how remote the possibility, don't you think Iraq is not the place he should be. Also, with the increased media attention he is going to recieve will definitely stir things up in Iraq. Imagine the security concerns this must raise. I think it's a bit irresponsible of him to go to Iraq. I don't care if he doesn't want to participate, that's his call. I just don't want him putting our forces in anymore danger than they already are in. I mean, seriously, get the hell out of Iraq.

But I still want to know what's he doing in Iraq. I think its neat he's in Iraq, somewhere dangerous. Don't understand why he's there. Maybe he's thinking, "Everyone's calling me a coward for conceding. I'll show them! I'm going to Iraq!" Or "John Kerry, you just conceded. What'll you do now?" "I'm going to Disneyland..err...Iraq!

That's not the point, the question is, if you were a soldier in Iraq giving a tour to Senator Kerry and then he miraculously becomes President Kerry, how would you feel?
a) happy that America is safe b) happy at first, then sad because you realize that across the country of Iraq, thousands of people who would love the chance to blow themselves up for the cause are going to be jumping in thier bomb-laden toyotas and driving like crazy right at you. c) sad that America is full of a bunch of Commie Nazi vote stealin Demonrats! who are trying to steal an electin. d) not really give a shit, cause who really gives a fuck, ain't no way I'm getting out of this fuckin desert, I fuckin hate it here!!! OHHHHH!!!! OHHHHHH!!!

7. Which is nearly 4 years away |
|
I refuse to see every action of his through a "he's campaigning for 2008" filter. It's distorting.
Putting flowers on a soldier's grave...campaigning for 2008.
Planning to submit a children's health care bill... campaigning for 2008.
Going to Iraq because he's part of the Foreign Relations Committee and it's part of his job, and shows he's not going to slink away and lick his wounds for the next 4 years... why, of course, he's campaigning for 2008.
It's too early for that talk. How about he's doing his job. Maybe... just maybe he's just doing his damn job.
He apparently disagrees that his job is to stand up as Senator. I agree. Anyone BUT him.
I'm happy as hell at the email we got today. I think bugging the shit out of the majority leaders will compliment tomorrows proceedings nicely.
You can just sit there and snark if it suits you. I'm not giving up on the first person I ever voted for with my eyes open. The very first person I campaigned for... E V E R. You can pry my support for him out of my cold dead hands.

8. I'm not saying don't support him, just get him out of Iraq |
|
The press is going to go wild over this tomorrow and everyone in the world will be looking to see where John Kerry is. "Well, he's in the middle of a war zone." Do you think that the pressure won't increase greatly on our troops who are guarding him. Support him all you want, just support getting his ass back on safer soil.

Mr. "He's Campaigning for 2008" not you. No worries, mate.
I hadn't actually thought of it that way. But you know what. The way the MSM covers this shit, I just bet we have nothing to worry about in that regard.

14. We should stand by our 2004 nominee or else we look divided and pathetic |
|
If you are a politician, everything (well, most everything) you do in life is part of a campaign. That's what politicians do, so all the sniping about Kerry positioning himself for a 2008 bid is rather silly.
Kerry should absolutely not be present in Washington for the challenge. By being in Iraq Kerry only helps the cause because he remains mostly above the fray. Would it be better for Kerry to be in Washington so CNN or Fox could run some 20 second Kerry response to "How do you feel? I bet deep down you are a sore loser?" So he can stand up with the other senators (if any)? It is not for Kerry to stand in the first place since he was the candidate. His absence in congress (and presence in IRAQ) makes it easier for others to stand and dispute the election. This way the focus is on the process and not Kerry, and when Kerry's absence is noted, he will be shown in Iraq, looking dare I say presidential. People try to spin it into being about 2008, but like it or not Kerry was the Democratic nominee in 2004. On the very day that George Bush gets enough electoral votes to remain President, I hope everyone who did not vote for the Democrat John Kerry will wish they had. That would make the loss a lot less painful and may bode well for Dems in 2008 no matter who is nominated. The future is the future, but Kerry will always be our choice for 2004. We should be proud of that choice. By abandoning Kerry, what are Dems saying--"You're right Kerry was the wrong Democratic choice to lead this country. Jeez we sure can't pick 'em." In 2004, Kerry was the right choice to be commander-in-chief and he became the 2004 symbol of our opposition, humanity, and vision. Every move that makes Bush supporters have voter's remorse is a victory for Democrats. We may not have "won" but we were right. Kerry being in Iraq rings true.

15. Are we sure he's really in Iraq? Wherever he is, maybe he's safer |

than he'd be in D.C. as this thing 'goes down.'
While I did want him there tomorrow, I wonder if there's another reason why he chose not to be 'in town.'
