3. Mark Dayton is a great guy
he is a good senator and he is up for re-election in 2006. the republicans have targeted him. it might be tough depending on who his opponent is. we have to do everything to support him and make sure he holds his seat.

5. Senator Mark Dayton is saying that an objection like this...
Edited on Thu Jan-06-05 11:05 AM by euler
...has no place in American politics. He's saying, this TYPE of objection, where all of the states electors are being objected to, is not the correct purpose of the law. He's saying the only valid reason to object is if their were two groups of competing electors for the state. He's saying, that if the objection is made, the two houses should split to their respective chamber, twiddle their thumbs for 2 hours, then come back and approve the electors.

What takes place in the senate and house today is not going to look like the picture we have in our minds of what will take place today.

Edit: After stating all the above, he started ripping Bush a new one for botching the war.

Edit: left a word out - 'is.'

7. That's incorrect
The way the law reads is that you can object to any vote "not regularly given" AND/OR that the elector was not "lawfully certified".

We have electors from FIVE states who are voting WITH objections and demands for an investigation.
