Raw Story: Other senators may support Boxer, but won't sign
What we're hearing...

Sources on Capitol Hill have told RAW STORY that other senators are preparing statements of support to deliver when Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-CA) challenges Ohio’s electoral votes today.

Several sources indicated that additional senators are not likely to sign the challenge, possibly at the request of Sen. Boxer and Rep. Tubbs-Jones. MSNBC’s Countdown program suggested as many as half a dozen senators might join Sen. Boxer.

Only one member of the Senate and one House member needs to sign a challenge to open discussion on the electoral vote tally. Boxer has agreed to joined at least 24 other House members in challenging Ohio’s electoral votes over election irregularities.

1. Since all they need is one, makes sense...
it's going to be interesting though.

Thanks for the update, Rawstory!

4. I LOVE Rawstory and Bradblog and Blue Lemur
Maybe they are reading statements of support, because that will give them more than 5 minutes to speak?!

5. I find it disgusting Boxer has to stand alone.
I would expect more from Senators such as Ted Kennedy or Carl Levin...Levin once served on the Detroit Common Council.Seems Conyers did also...For Levin to not support his constituent( Conyers) stinks.

7. This confirms what Hillary Clinton's office told me--
I got through to her office a little while ago (Thursday, 1/6, approx. 10:30 am EST), and the young man told me that only one senator would sign the protest, and one representative, but that other senators may stand up and speak in support of the objection.

9. What will the other Democrats do?
I have mixed emotions as to whether this will help. Obviously it will not change the result of the election in a GOP controlled Congress, but it could be worthwhile if it brings further attention to election reform. There is also a bit of satisfaction in having it on record that this is a challenged election.

I do wonder what other Democrats will do. If the bulk wind up voting to support the electoral vote as submitted, it could make all the protests look meaningless. I hope that the right wing media can't spin this to make all future attempts at election reform look Quixotic.

10. I'm not sure this is accurate
I think only one Senator *can* sign. Therefore, statements of support are the next option.

11. Will Pitt just reported that the Constitution only allows one Sen and Rep
to sign. Others cannot, so this is a red herring.
