DENIAL - It Ain't Just A River
Edited on Thu Jan-06-05 12:40 PM by Vinnie From Indy
We should not be in denial about the prospects of having this event in the joint session fairly presented or debated in the mainstream media. The same corporate interests that have allowed, and in most cases encouraged, the BushCo. crime spree are still there and they are still expecting their reward in the form of deregulation etc. As sure as the Earth moves around the Sun, Rush Limbaugh and the rest of the right wing media warriors are right now preparing their talking points to launch a coordinated attack of vicious lies, hyperbole and misdirection against the Democrats and especially those with the cajones to stand today. Their attack talking points will be picked up by significant portion of the mainstream media and the whole thing will become a huge echo chamber of right wing bile. These things will happen. Guaranteed!

The Democrats have been getting their asses handed to them for the last four years in the public debate because they are in denial, unprepared and too courteous. Democratic leadership seems to be in denial about their ability to not only get their message out in the mainstream media, but to have it interpreted and discussed fairly. BushCo. enterprises tactic of having all their hate radio assets in sync and on message with their broadcast mouthpieces and newspaper journalists on any given issue is impressive and highly effective. The Democrats have nothing close to the same lock step approach displayed by this modern group of wing nut media warriors. I believe that we must continue to present reality in our message, but in order to fight the battle we are faced with and be effective, we need to adopt a much more cohesive message and aggressively deliver it using fear as one of the primary motivating elements. People should be afraid of these guys and we should amp up that message to the masses ten fold. Righteousness without effective strategy in the political arena always gets crushed.
