Is anyone else depressed?
Don't get me wrong. I'm thrilled with the progress the grassroots and conyers and everyone involved has accomplished since 11/2. Just now that I'm sitting here listening to the votes being tallied I want to cry. I have been putting off being depressed about the election until today because of the hope that somehow it will be overturned because of the widespread fraud. On Nov 3rd I was devastated and then I re-grouped and focused on the investigations.

Now we have what we wanted, a challenge on Jan 6th but it feels empty and hollow. I cringe when I hear about every state that Bush won. "It seems to be regular and in form and authentic" my ass! He will be inaugurated. They got away with stealing it. Once again the wrong man is still in the White House. It really happened and debate or not that's how it will stay.

How do we impeach when we do not control the house? How do we contol the house when they steal elections? I keep thinking that we have to have video of Bush eating a Baptist baby for republicans to turn on him. Despondent? Depressed? Who's with me?

19. Actually
"I keep thinking that we have to have video of Bush eating a Baptist baby for republicans to turn on him."

No, if there were such a video, the Republican spin machine would insist that the baby deserved it, or that the baby wasn't actually Baptist, or that Bush didn't know it was a Baptist baby, or that Bush didn't eat a Baptist baby at all, but that it was just tricky video editing. And the freepers would believe all those explanations at once.

20. Sad - Yes. They got away with stealing it. - No
They did not get away with stealing it. No matter how it appears Cheney feels or does not feel this IS public humiliation. The probability that investigations into the REAL fraud will continue and will be REVEALED is much higher.

Sad - SHIT YES - we should be watching Kerry's tally rise to 311 and looking forward to the inauguration. I put heart and soul into making a BIG difference in our future by getting Bush out of office. We won and had it stolen. We were victimized. Shock and sadness and anger are to be expected.

23. I have something for you!
I have this playing right now

U2s Beautiful Day

The heart is a bloom
Shoots up through the stony ground
There's no room
No space to rent in this town

You're out of luck
And the reason that you had to care
The traffic is stuck
And you're not moving anywhere

You thought you'd found a friend
To take you out of this place
Someone you could lend a hand
In return for grace

It's a beautiful day
Sky falls, you feel like
It's a beautiful day
Don't let it get away

You're on the road
But you've got no destination
You're in the mud
In the maze of her imagination

You love this town
Even if that doesn't ring true
You've been all over
And it's been all over you

It's a beautiful day
Don't let it get away
It's a beautiful day

Touch me
Take me to that other place
Teach me
I know I'm not a hopeless case

See the world in green and blue
See China right in front of you
See the canyons broken by cloud
See the tuna fleets clearing the sea out
See the Bedouin fires at night
See the oil fields at first light
And see the bird with a leaf in her mouth
After the flood all the colors came out

It was a beautiful day
Don't let it get away
Beautiful day

Touch me
Take me to that other place
Reach me
I know I'm not a hopeless case

What you don't have you don't need it now
What you don't know you can feel it somehow
What you don't have you don't need it now
Don't need it now
Was a beautiful day

32. I am so proud of Boxer but the rest of the dems have me wondering.
Listening to the TV anchors it is a bit depressing. Especially since they keep stressing that the democrats aren't unanonimous about the challenge. Couldn't they even do that for one day? Guess not. Makes me angry.

But Senator Boxer will always be a hero to me. I will support her 100% forever. She has more guts than any of the men in our party. I'm looking forward to see how the democrats vote on this now. Either way, think this is a black eye for bush historically, so that's good.

27. Only if you really thought the election would be overturned
should you be despairing. Many of us knew the election, smelly as it was, would stand. Many of us realize that the fight is not about getting JK in the WH anymore, the fight is about free and fair elections. This is a MAJOR step forward. Can you imagine how you'd feel, how we would ALL feel, if once again all we heard today was crickets chirping? It is positively refreshing that there is debate, discussion and a couple of kick ass Dems who are standing up for what is RIGHT, for once. Make no mistake about it, this is progress.

However, I am hopeful that we can use the courage shown by the few to further keep the grass roots alive and get REAL candidates in office in 2 years!

38. My sentiments exactly
I'm by nature an optimist, but today is depressing to me, because this great stand for democracy won't be in the MSM after tomorrow, so how will those we're trying to reach ever get on board?

I'm thankful, though, that the seeds have been planted. At least this inspiring debate can be brought up again when the overwhelming majority of "undecideds" finally get sick of the * administration's lies and inhuman policies. Then this issue will suddenly become of the utmost importance to them too.

I'm also thankful for our great representatives in Ohio like Stephanie Tubbs Jones and Sherrod Brown (speaking now). Public servants like this truly understand what this country stands for and how to protect it.

37. No.
I was, but this is incredibly uplifting. When things get worse and worse, events such as this renew our faith. I was beginning to think our emails, phone calls, and protests meant nothing, but today I was proved wrong. They mean something, and our senators are listening. They represent us, but they can't speak for us. We made our voice heard; now we're going to start.

This is about our democracy. Yes, * is awful. Yes, we want * gone. But this is more important.

We should all give ourselves a big pat on the back for working so hard to highlight this issue.

What difference does it make to offer and or support a challenge to something when you premptorily nullify its relevance by saying it isn't going to change anything???????

That is exactly what all of these politicians are saying. They stand up and nearly beg for the Congress to consider the objections while assuring the Repukes and other Bush supporters that it won't effect this election.

Depressed, infuriated, you bet and you oughta be.

election. 1. They don't get that all it would have taken is 6 votes per precinct in OH to change the outcome. They siphoned off those in just voter suppression, not even considering machine inssues. Can't these people do math?
2. That is irrelevant. By certifying they are sanctioning blatantly illegal activity and discrimination rather than putting states on notice that this is unacceptable if they want their electors be cerfified. Criminal activity in elections is fine. No consequences except people get up and talk about how we need election reform.

However, some people stood up and did some brave things and they did respond to our requests. We did make a huge difference. That is very rewarding.

The best part was in the pre-briefing when Boxer said she made a mistake not challenging in 2000 because it was about the voters, not about Gore.

Take heart, as crooked as he is, and his administration, he will probably be impeached. Also, think about it, we can make the next 4 years for him a living hell at every opportunity. Perhaps he'll end as the most embarrassing president we've ever had...we can only hope anyway...so there are still things we can do.

It's certainly depressing, but bailing won't help. IT'll just give the thugs more control. Stand and fight...and consider relocating to Barbara Boxers district. :o)
