1. You're missing the point. |
|
No one's saying the election will be overturned. You're buying right into the Rethug's plan by listening to them and NOT the Democrats (which you are CLEARLY not doing).

4. Why not overturn it? How much fraud is acceptable? |
|
Right now, W doesn't have enough votes to win without Ohio - if they don't vote this down they are merely flapping their lips.

He had no choice but to concede. Period. The important thing is that this is being put front and center and now the GOP will HAVE to deal with it or say that they are against fair elections. Sheesh! And now investigations will go forward which can lead to...dare I say it? Impeachment? Who knows? This wasn't about overturning the election.

While I agree that this was most likely more to bring the issue to the forefront, I do not agree that the GOP will have to address it. 1)They have a supposed "Mandate" 2) They dont "HAVE" to do anything, because they and their most ardent supporters simply dont care if they are for or against fair elections.
I guess Im just a realist that wants to take the fight straight at them, regradless.

25. Ousting the dictator is the point |
|
I'm sick to death of everyone saying overturning the vote is not the point. IT IS THE POINT. It was a fraud, a sham the most hideous felony perpetrated by a fascist regime. This president is accountable to no one and nothing. The checks and balances envisioned by the founding fathers are negated. Kerry should've fought and not conceded. The point that the Republicans would've attacked him is moot because Kerry stood up and said "I am irrelevant" by conceding. I will not vote for him and indeed will not vote for any Democrat who doesn't have the stomach to fight.

The fact that John Kerry is not going to contest this election up to the supreme Court, doesn't mean he quit,
It means that the Republicans SUCCEEDED in their Fraud. They have Hijacked the Vote.
John Kerry did not LOSE, The BASTARDS WON by Cheating, AGAIN!
The fact today is, The Republican Criminals that currently Control ALL functions of our Federal Government win NEVER LOSE ANOTHER ELECTION AGAIN, UNLESS THEY CHOOSE TO LOSE AN ELECTION!
That is the reality we face today, and that is where we need to focus our energy NOW, TOMORROW, and in ALL FUTURE Elections!!!

I dispute your conclusion.
I didn't need him to fight where there was smoke but no provable fire.
I need him to continue to do his job for all of us in the Senate. That means not needlessly Gore-ing himself upon the Republican spikes, no matter how warm and fuzzy it would have made the likes of YOU feel. This isn't about satisfying someone's need for a Hollywood ending. This is about being in the fight for the long haul.

how do you people flame me for calling out kerry and his lack of leadership, he isnt even there today, i know he is over in Iraq but the bottom line is that he is not fighting for us, i wanted us to give it our all today, it should have been straight down party lines, we should have had a united front to really bring this issue foward, but our senators and our congresspeople failed us

Kerry let us make this fight about OUR right to vote.
"Leadership", as you call it, would have made the fight about Kerry's presidency, and the puke hacks and media were prepared for the "Loserman" technique they perfected in 2000.
They don't fucking quite know how to attack the American people's right to fair elections!
George W would have run his corrupt, theiving ass to the Supreme Court if Kerry showed "leadership"--as you are want to call it--and made a big stink about the election.
A lot of people are upset by Kerry backing down. A lot of them just happen to also be Republicans who were hoping to use the same scripts they used in 2000.
In fact a number of those assholes did indeed use those old scripts as they spoke on the floor today! Which, by the way, was hee-larious!

I never liked him anyway...I loved the old, anti-war Kerry, not this spineless and buggy version 2.0.
He was boring and stiff...and he lost the election in that way (even if he could have won with all this fraud in Ohio)
This election was about giving a landslide victory against the Republicans...the U.S. public was not up to the job...it will reap what it sows...and will forever learn the consequences of voting Republicans.
Germany had to suffer the destruction of the Nazi years to learn NEVER to support right-wing governments again...maybe that's what we need here too.

Buck up...stop looking for someone to blame. The system screwed us. the whole fucked-up flawed system. Kerry did nothing to screw us. He busted his ass running against a tyrant, and now he is in a fucking war torn hell-hole visiting our armed service people, without the buffer of a fake turkey and a bunch of showboating.
Not too many people can say they did all that.
I understand you are livid, and so am I, I loathe Shrub too, but you cannot lay all your blame on one person when the system is fundamentally fucked from the ground up.
I don't see too many cowards volunteering to go to Vietnam, to take on the Rove machine in an election, to speak the truth to power, to visit a war torn and very dangerous Iraq.
He is far from a coward. And he didn't screw anyone. If he'd screwed you, you'd be toweling off and smoking a cigarette right now.

|
Why do people want to blame one person? Your right it's the entire system that is flawed. We should focus our energy on change. We are bigger than the system if we stand united and work together for something better. It is not going to happen overnight but we need to continue to work at it until we make it right. I'm mad, confused and was hoping for a different outcome also. I have decided to take my anger, time & energy and focus it on something that I can do to make a positive difference. This fight is not over because I am NOT willing to let them take our country away from us!!

Confused, mad, disappointed, the whole gamut. But I think it's futile to blame one man. One man did not do this to our system - it has been screwed for a good long time now. To try to make one individual a scapegoat is to ignore the big picture - which is dangerous. We need to address this from the ground up, and stop looking for a whipping boy.
It doesn't accomplish anything. Finger pointing and mudslinging is for Repukes. I refuse to stoop.
At lest that's TWO of us who want to fight for positive change instead of sitting around and looking for someone to pin blame on. Who's with us?

39. You know it's a funny thing about those repubs-- |
|
they seemed to be arguing against a case that nobody ever made--did you notice that? They seemed to be arguing against overturning Bush's election--but nobody said that--not Kerry, not any of the Dems. Do you suppose they misunderstood? Or were arguing against a straw man simply because they had no argument against the real points being made? They made real fools out of themselves--what American doesn't want fair elections? What American wants their votes not to count?

40. They should have returned it, demanded Democracy live |
|
Today was the death of Democracy, not the birth of reform:
They have been trying that for years now and still do not have it right to the point that another election was stolen from us. I will never ever vote for a Democrat with an exception for Sen. Barbara Boxer and the Reps. in the house who stood up for us today. As a reward to David Cobb, I will be signing up for the Green Party. I am sick of the Repubs and their other party the Democrats. I never thought in my life I would think so little of them but I do now.
They do not represent us, they represent the other Republican party, you had better start calling them the baby elephants. What are we, are we battered wifes who are going to keep going back for more beatings from our Democratic Party husbands. I loved this party because I thought they were something that they are not, get over it people, they do not care about us anymore then the Republicans, FDR is died as far as these people are concerned.
The Democrats are pussy whipped by the Republicans, are their actions today not enough for you. I for one am not going back to be their whipping post anymore, I will leave that up to the rest of you who like to get beat up and ignored like the abused children of supposabily loving parents. I wish you luck in your destructive path holding to a dream that was given its death shot today.

48. Well said...today was the death of democracy |
|
After what happened today, I don't get how anyone can believe that the people of this country are being represented by the majority of those in office. Bullshit! And Kerry...? He skipped town to avoid "looking bad" instead of speaking up for the people who voted for him! How is that supposed to be okay? I think not.
I been reading these threads for hours now, and I just realized a little while ago that a lot of what's been posted today is damage control. If you don't agree with how great it was to be thrown a crumb, then you are wrong wrong wrong. Sorry, but how can someones' gut reaction about this be wrong? How can this sort of apathy and half assed "challenge" be preferable to a knock down drag out fight had Kerry contested the election? Anything would be preferable to this-no matter how down and dirty. At least it would be out in the open, at least it would be discussed by the majority of the people in this country instead of being swept under the carpet as we all know it is given how it's scarcely been covered by the MSM. And that is exactly as the repukes wanted it too. How convenient.
