but there is no democratic party left that i can see. if there is, it's ailing, and it needs a backbone.

It's what they do. The problem for Kerry is that he wasn't here to respond to the Repugs whines or to defend the vote, and he should have been.
Kerry was MIA on this battle today, and the right-wing media are going to waste no time in pointing that out.

Kerry would have been a lightening rod. He knows Congress and made the right call. Now the media, hopefully, will put the attention where it belongs--on the need for election reform.
