ONLY TWO? ONLY TWO? THAT'S NO VICTORY. THAT'S DEJA VU. |
|
Edited on Thu Jan-06-05 03:30 PM by TruthIsAll
All I wanted to see were the numbers. ALL the Dems, not just TWO.
They let us down. It didn't happen.
So many words. So few votes.
Let's not delude ourselves. We are all disappointed.
Does that mean we give up? Of course not.
But let's not delude ourselves. The Reality finally hit home today.

7. since 1887, to be exact -- and the issue is that we DID have one... |
|
which was all that was needed to address election reform .
The victory is that we forced this debate in Congress. Note that the Repukes were squirming.

8. Agreed. Lip service is worse than no fight at all. |

Just trying to avoid another f911 embarassing scene. Disgusting. But, you're right. Any opportunity to get a clearer idea of who our enemies are is a good thing. And no, not going to stop voting or vote Green. Am going to work for alternatives in the Democratic Primaries. Gotta be some real fighters to vote for. I say we start looking NOW.

People need to take notice.
Edited: 2 women objected. I missed the vote entirely and am looking for it now.

14. Speak for yourself..we are NOT ALL disappointed.. |
|
Reality of what? That we have some representatives and senators with consciences? That they respond to our phone calls? Just because they didn't cite your statistical analyses and push to overturn the whole thing doesn't make this an empty exercise... Look, the republicans are pissed and they're being painted as complete ignoramuses.. This is a HUGE opening for us..

19. If you noticed today, the Dems framed the |
|
debate on their terms. The pugs had a lot of bluster and inane statements but the Dems were in charge. They had a message, and stuck to it speaker after speaker.
The pugs had a lot to say about having better things to do with their time (than debating election reform?), Michael Moore, newspaper articles, tried to bash Kerry but Kerry was in Iraq. I also heard something about sports and they tried to say that long lines were nothing to get upset about.
It was like listening to a debate about two separate things..really weird to hear. I would imagine many people tuning in were thinking the same thing, and the Ohio people were hearing that their sojourn in the cold rain on Nov. 2 was nothing, just some people complaining about a little inconvenience. Bet that made their day.
