Today was a GREAT DAY in DC. I was there. I'm proud of everyone! |
|
I'm not a "Johnny go to meeting" type of guy. I haven't been to a protest since 1972. But I decided, if not today then when? and I went to the rally at Lafayette Park and on Capitol Hill (which included a march from Lafayette, across from the White House, to the Hill).
It was just outstanding. The spirit at both rallies was tremendous. It was multi party, multi cultural, multi issue, all around the new civil rights struggle -- for ***VOTING RIGHTS***.
Rev. Jackson was absolutely spell binding, as was Rev. Moss. Cobb was superb as was Arenbeck. They were all both logical and passionate. At Capitol Hill, Lytel did a a great job moderating, Rep. Deutch was hot as a fire cracker, and even Wayne Madsen was there along with bunch of inspiring speakers.
When we heard Boxer stood up, we were all thrilled. I'm just back home for a break (I have my work to do tonight)but I can't tell you what a powerful feeling and vibe there was today.
Something major happened today, a coalition of real democrats with Democrats. This coalition will grow and become THE social justice movement of the next 10-20 years.
If you can't have your vote counted, you can't effect change.
Making our elections fair will get us the government we need.
It's that simple.
It was abundantly clear at the rally that the electronic activism was overwhelming and played a major role in this historic challenge. Compliments all around. This was a good day for democracy. One of many to come.
--------------------- P.S. If there is a DU gathering that will still be going after 9:30PM tonight, PM me and let me know where it is. Thanks.

I agree that today's rally was terrific. I am so pumped! My favorite speaker was Rev. Moss, but really they were all great. Cobb may have persuaded me to join the Greens. At least they aren't wimps like our so-called leaders. Stand by for a few pics. By the way, I was the guy in the gigantic day-glo orange parka.

I am so proud of the Dems today! I can't believe that we had so many Senators stand up and support investigating election fraud. Boxer heard us and stood up for the VOTERS!!!!
What a wonderful day!
