1. 1st caller - ME - F
Overwhelmingly proud of members of the black causus.

They realize what it's like not to have the freedom to vote, or to have your vote counted, they spearheaded this effort.

I'm appalled by the level of denial in this country - that we actually believe we live in a Democracy.

If not for CSpan or progressive radio, we wouldn't have know about this.

Very disappointed in Dems - who didn't stand with Jones-Tubbs and Boxer.

We're the first to tell the Ukraine how to run their Democracy - but in denial about the sham ours has become.

3. Another Repug election observer ...
so nice of them to keep calling. It's funny how they didn't see one problem ... considering how many problems have actually been documented. :eyes:

8. 2nd caller - Repub - male
involved in election process at 2 levels - at the voting level and in the Cuyahoga county recount

witnessed the voting and vote counting process

based on my 1st hand experience, at the recount, we hand-recounted over 2000 votes

i didnt recount them - i witnessed the recount - plus equal number of Dem witnesses as well

both sides witnessed the BoE hand-recount the votes - at none of the tables was there ever one vote discrepancy

when tv cams were wandering around the room, as soon as a tv cam came to the table, a dem whipped out a magnifying class to examine a ballot as if there were something wrong with the ballot

Q - did you ask him about that or tease him?

No, i felt this was a very serious process, did not want to disturb the process.

im in a quandary about this. dems voted 2-1 against agreeing to the objection.

(partisan part of my remarks) you see hillary, speaking eloquently about the objection - but then she voted AGAINST it.

i'm really mystified by the whole thing. my only conclusion is - the dems are thrashing about looking for grounds, looking for a basis for being an opposition party in good conscience

until they are able to pull it together, and come up with these things - we're gonna see a lot more of this thrashing-about on issues that mean nothing

(rocky river, ohio)

10. 3rd caller - Georgia (Decatur), female
This opposition that Rep Tubbs brought out today is so serious, and so criminal, that Americans dont want to face whats going on.

The machines Diebold, Triad - are all Republican-owned.

In GA, the SoS signed a secret agreement stating that it is illegal to examine the software in the machines.

its not the paper trail thats the problem, its not having open-source software that others besides republican owners can look at.

until we stop the privatized republican voting, we will not have a democracy in the US

it's obscene to say theres nothing wrong when we dont have democracy in america

triad - went into the precinct and tampered with the machines in ohio during the recount

Q - how do you know this?

go to john conyers, the website, the 101 pages hes holding up

11. 4th caller - in Phoenix, lives in Ohio - female
nobody mentions that ohio has punchcards

there are laws in ohio

the SoS is being maligned

the BoE members and staff all take an oath to uphold election law

why are we questioning the professionality of these people

the Secy followed the letter of the law

Everyone is talking about computers - but OH has punchcards

12. Website for John Conyers - Investigation
A caller should mention the website address for the Conyers document
so others can get to it.

I can't find it address can someone post it.

13. 5th caller (after the break) - Columbus Oh - woman
Thank you cspan for excellent coverage

i also was a volunteer - at a very urban district in columbus

6 am to 10 pm

never had a line till we closed it that was less than 2.5 hours long

had a lot of old people, people who were sick, mothers with children

i live in a white neighborhood

i told my son to be ready for long lines

he drove to his voting place - suburban - and there were no lines

the people who put the machines in place - paid employees - the guy in charge of franklin county - never responded to the charge of why he left 68 machines in the warehouse

Q - what do you conclude from this

we had plenty of machines in the suburbs, too few machines in the urban areas.

the earlier caller was incorrect - major cities DO use electronic voting machines. needed to clear that up.

as i sit here watching that vote tally on the machine - on your cspan vote tallies, i saw the vote tally constantly CHANGING

yeas became nays. votes got added and taken off. a yea vote was taken off the republican side.

Q - person could have changed their minds. there is a final vote tally published. they can go back and change.

the main point i want to make: no one should have to stand in the rain for hours to vote. i get a vote from my atm, i should get a receipt for my vote.

14. 6th caller - GA - male
worked the 2000 election

just watched your coverage, and the "group" after, that made a little speech {black caucus}

sounds like a sad attempt by a few democrats to question gwb white house, just like they did in the last election

i heard reports last time that there were police turning people away.

in indiana, as an official, it was my sworn duty to make sure that would not happen - and it didnt happen - at my location.

back to that yea-vote republican popping up {and disappearing} on cspan - there's a woman who takes the yea and nay votes, and often she gets in a hurry and puts the vote in the wrong place

Cspan: in the senate, members vote with an electronic card.

it's just simple human error.

WTF is there a 'boiler-room' somwhere with these guys?

The vote appeared and disappeared!

Maybe there was a fight:

Republican Yea Voter: This is obviously fraud-laden and I will vote 'Yea' -> presses Yea vote BZZZZZ

(whisper in his ear): I'm sorry Dave I can't let you do that --> vote disappears!

Republican Yea Voter: The hell with you damn voice in my head!! -> presses Yea vote BZZZZZ

(whisper in his ear): You know I've always had the greatest respect for you --> vote disappears!

Republican Yea Voter: AARRRGHGGHG -> presses Yea vote BZZZZZ

(whisper in his ear): Just a momemt, just a moment -- it seems there
is a problem in the AE-35 voting unit, and you won't be allowed to vote anymore -- please report to the reeducation center IMMEDIATELY! --> vote disappears!

15. 7th caller - WA - male
deeply resents the characterization Michael Moore democrats

several Dems stated that this was the only forum they had to point out some of the issues they were passionate about

Rush Holt of NJ has had a bill before the House to establish a paper trail for voting machines - DeLay has said that bill will NEVER NEVER see the light of day.

if you can't talk about paper trail for voting machines, you need to take any forum you can get.

16. 8th caller - Rep TUBBS!
Q - why did you choose this forum to get your point across

one of the dilemmas when youre the minority, is you cant always get a chance to bring up your points for debate. i knew that in this congress it would be unlikely that i would have the opp to raise these points for the congress and the world to see

Q - we know you are a judge. we had a constitutional scholar on today who said this was not the intent, might set bad precedent.

he can have that belief if he chooses. as a former judge, as a former prosecutor, i saw things in OH that i felt had to be brought to the attention of our community. i dont doubt that gwb is president. i do think its important to debate these issues today.

Q - what about Boxer being the only yea vote?

winning was not my point today. im alright with the vote.

Q - how did you connect with senator boxer

after we had had some conversations about ohio, i said i would send her a letter with the basis for questioning the vote in ohio. she believed that i presented sufficient evidence to her to join me in that objection.

Q - what could be the best, and the likely outcome of today.

best - that congress would take up the issue of voting irregularities, and put in place standards - so we have uniform machines, no long lines, federal standards. we need some standardization to ensure everyone the right to vote.

(typing as fast as i can - this is only approximate)
