2. Getting ready means fixing this first
Why move on to Coup III and faux-Prez Jeb Bush? First objective is to pound on electoral reform. Otherwise 08 will be just another exercise in futility.

4. Um, two things.
First of all we need to retake the majority in congress in 2006 first. Secondly, if we don't reform the voting process we don't have a snowball's chance in 2006 or 2008.

47. I can't wait
to see McCain's face when jebbuscho declares his intention to run. I feel they must have promised McCain a chance at the whitehouse for him to have turned 180-degrees during this campaign...

Sucker!

There's much to fix. I don't mean to be a doomsayer, but I really fear bushco are going to screw this country and its populace beyond repair... at least for a generation...

55. Yes, McCain really sucked up a major load of....
humiliation from Smirk to "ensure" his chance at a run in '08. I'm not a fan of McCain, but I still wince at the insults he embraced in order to stay on the good side of a bunch of weasels.

And, I agree, Jeb is up next for the creation of the BushCo Dynasty.

(though we need to keep 2006 in our sights too) - Election reform has to be pursued and our voting processes corrected to make 2006 or 2008 even matter. (imho)

What bomb? The election of 2004 is OVER.Period.

Correcting the election process is NOT over and if we sit around and complain and whine about how we were cheated we are just wasting time.

Everyone has to get out, starting in their own voting district, and make sure this stuff never happens again.

We should act,not react!!!!!!

Less time on the internet and more time in the neighborhoods would solve a lot of problems.

Less time on the internet and more time in the neighborhoods would solve a lot of problems.
This is a red herring. People who are activists in one realm tend to be activists in many realms. I'm on the town square at protests regularly, have spoken in City Council and at Public Library on Election Fraud, table for lots of causes at the local Farmer's Market, donate money, and have walked many, many miles delivering literature for the local Democratic Party.

Everyone has to get out, starting in their own voting district, and make sure this stuff never happens again.
If we don't punish bad behavior it WILL occur again. Have you ever let a bully 'get away with it' who didn't just act like a bigger bully the next time? Didn't we learn something about the failure of appeasement back in the late 1930's? I know that the Republicans are the "law-and-order" party -- but we are gonna have to emulate them in this situation. How many felons need to serve as Majority Leader before we decide that some of these folks really might be crooks?

Start a new thread on the topic that YOU want to discuss and see if you don't get people posting to THAT instead of wanting THIS room closed down.

had voted in this past election, and 60%+ of them voted for Kerry, then the reaction to having the election stolen would have been swift and LOUD. With only 60% voting it isn't as obvious when things go wrong. We gotta keep getting each other to the polls for every election!

45. In a word, no.

Look, the last three national elections have been rigged in broad daylight by a combination of local chicanery including selective voter suppression, voter intimidation, selective ballot wastage, and biased ballot miscounting. Now high tech tricks are being added to an already highly effective bag.

Open your eyes! I'm a life long Republican, and even I can see what's happening. Unless and until that gets fixed, it doesn't matter who the people want, or which party backs them--it will be a done deal under the sole control of whoever owns the "machine." Think Tammany Hall on a national scale.

So unless by "get ready for 2008" you mean "move to a free country" or fight to fix this one, you are deluding yourself.

from a lifelong republican, that makes me sorry for my blanket insults (repukes, repugs) that I sometimes use. It's a good think to be reminded that there are republicans out there just as worried about our country as we are. 53. 2008 is a lost cause . . .
as long as the Republicans control the election process and Republican corporations count the votes . . . if that system isn't changed, we have no chance of ever winning another presidential election . . . and the chances of that system being changed by the Republicans who benefit from it are exactly zero . . .

preparing for 2008 for me will involve honing my gardening skills, doing a little woodworking, and doing some volunteer work with non-political organizations that are doing good work . . . being involved with politics at this time is a waste of time and energy, and my finite days on this planet can be put to far better use . . .

but, hey . . . go for it . . . have a ball . . . Jeb's inauguration should be a doozy . . .

56. I will not move on until I know my vote as well as yours is counted and
will be counted in the future. I will settle for no less than that.

58. Yes, its over Candy. I don't mean the 2004 election, I mean Democracy.
Now if you wish to moveon, please do. I am an individual and can do anything I damn want to do right now. BTW...I don't think there is a 2008 election to move on to. Bush is a fascist. Like Hitler he will take this country to where he wishes it to go, with his sociopathic henchmen helping him every step of the way.

One of the best articles I have read about this was written by Thom Hartmann. I suggest you read it, and wake-up.

When Democracy Failed:
The Warnings of History
by Thom Hartmann

The 70th anniversary wasn't noticed in the United States, and was barely reported in the corporate media. But the Germans remembered well that fateful day seventy years ago - February 27, 1933. They commemorated the anniversary by joining in demonstrations for peace that mobilized citizens all across the world.

It started when the government, in the midst of a worldwide economic crisis, received reports of an imminent terrorist attack. A foreign ideologue had launched feeble attacks on a few famous buildings, but the media largely ignored his relatively small efforts. The intelligence services knew, however, that the odds were he would eventually succeed. (Historians are still arguing whether or not rogue elements in the intelligence service helped the terrorist; the most recent research implies they did not.)

65. thank you for that article ommmm...and do remember
the jewish rabbis were hitler followers too!!

SPENGLER
When rabbis liked Hitler: A moral tale
The question of why the Muslim world views Jews in a fashion reminiscent of Adolf Hitler's can be answered by taking a look at pre-Holocaust Nazi Germany, a time when even the rabbis of Berlin sympathized with the fuhrer in his disdain for the moral decay running rampant in society. (Dec 8, '03)

60. Get rid of the evoting machines
then I'll think about the next election. Why would anyone spend time, money and effort on another election with evoting machines being used?? Doesn't make any sense to me. 2008 we'll have a 1 party government. 2006 they will steal more seats and 2008 they will finish it off.

67. I'm STILL angry that I donated so much
money through the primaries and the election. I just KNEW the Dems had our backs on the evoting issue. They didn't. They don't. Yeah, I feel like a big fool. Never, ever again will I put that much into an election. The Dems have done me in. :(

61. If 2004 election is over we have no democratic system; no point in 2008
There was a huge amount of well documented suppression of minority voters and vote machine fraud and vote manipulation in many states.
If nothing is going to be done about it; there's no point in thinking about 2008 elections. There is no democratic system in U.S. any more.

64. Getting ready for 2008 may mean nothing less than getting people to riot
in the streets...by then they will know that the election process has become a sham. I am afraid that's what it may come to. And there is a lot of work to be done between now and then, starting right now.

70. Think back 40 years ago to the civil rights movement.
When Lyndon Johnson signed the Voting Rights Act of 1964, would you run up to a group of minorty voters and ask them to move on? We are still trying to guarantee their right to vote today. Hell, who knows, we might be trying to hold on to all our rights to vote. Senator Harkin pointed out today that the constitution does not guarantee us our right to vote. Ponder for just one moment what Bushco and say Alberto Gonzales could do with that little factoid. Still feel like moving on?

80. I'm with you Candy
I'm ready to focus on the future. And it scare me what the future will be if we don't quit focusing on the wrong belief Bush cheated and won.

Bush won fairly, and I don't like it. But unlike so many lemming here, they don't want to face the cold reality that Bush won fair and square.

We've got problems. Unless we get to the root cause, get ready for McCain or Rudy in 2008.
