Why didn't any Dem mention Triad tampering with the recount?
I heard that Triad had posted "cheat sheets" on the walls where the recount was being done, telling the people doing the recount what numbers they should come up with.

Why wasn't this mentioned at the hearings?

Warm-and-fuzzy speeches about counting every vote are nice. But a specific story with a villian would have grabbed viewers by the throat.

Dems need to learn how to personalize issues more. Having an enemy you can point the finger at is an important way to galvanize support for your cause. There were plenty of enemies here the Dems could have pointed the finger at - but they dissolved into platitudes instead.

I heard the names "Diebold" and "ES&S" in several of the calls into CSpan after the hearings. I NEVER heard these evil corporations mentioned by any Congresspeople.

This was a historic moment - a chance to point fingers and name names. Instead, the Dem politicians talked about "counting every vote". A laudable cause, yes - but how do you think it looked to the casual person flipping channels. "Another politician talking about nothing," they must've thought.

Remember Willie Horton? Remember the Welfare Queens? Republicans know how to PERSONALIZE issues. And they don't talk about a VICTIM - they talk about a VILLAIN. It's just a lot more attention-getting that way.

Dems need to learn some basic PR skills.
