Since the majority feels it's a good day : on to the 20th

"There is a crack, a crack
in everything
that's where the light gets in"

The issues of disenfranchisement & irregularities & inauditability are now ripe for the picking.

Now is the time to consider the next step.

First thing that comes to mind is the 20th. As a distant observer, I am heartened by the passion on Du but some nice massive street protest would be more than appropriate.

Where do you all think the positive energy should flow to next?

Me I'm gonna look for sites that organise on the 20th, gonna add 'em on edit. Everybody should have signs "Boxer was RIGHT".

On edit :
Counter-Inaugural demonstration at http://www.commongroundcommonsense.org/lofiversion/index.php/t10619.html
And http://www.counter-inaugural.org/index.php
has a nice summary of groups plus a housing & ride board

1. Hmm no signs
they will prevent anybody with the slightest sing of partisan gear on from attending (read democrats, independents, protesters).

What is being organized, and I wish I could be there... is a turn your back on bush... the people will silently turn their back as the motorcade drives by... and count on the stenography corp not showing this

2. So show up looking like a republican
and where an orange shirt under your coat and when he shows, TURN YOUR BACK ON HIM and take off your coat to show your orange.

4. I love the idea of a silent protest. Silence is very powerful and pretty
scary in a large group. And turning your back on the buffoon is perfect.

5. GREAT idea! Or a folded sign that can be slid up under your shirt.
I've done this in the past at sporting events. Take a regular posterboard, cut it in half. Make your sign. Short. Sweet. BIG LETTERS. Now fold that in half. You can slide it up inside your shirt until it's time to pull it out, unfold it and HOLD IT HIGH!

7. Ghandi spirit.
I only think the outrage we all feel here because of what we know needs to be spread.

The contest has now provided the ideal talking point.

Did you know that...

6. I always use the example of free speech zones
when explaining to people that the US under Bush* really isn't all that far from a totalitarian state.

But I do believe a massive outpouring of people, albeit in another place, cannot be ignored, right?

Surely in a far away protest demonstration they cannot control what you can or can't wear?

the turn your back thing sounds real good too.

3. I am planning to attend.
It is not an easy trip for me to make, I have two little kids, but it is important to me. Someday I want to tell my kids, I was there, I stood up for what I believed in.

8. respect to you, wildeyed
I have only come off my lazy butt twice in my thirty years.

But if I were over there with you I'd join in. Now is the time to speak or forever be forced to hold your peace.

Just mho of course.
