So how did Kerry do in your city/town/ community?
I live in Madison, Wisconsin (Thank God) and Madison was more than 70% for Kerry and Dane County itself (which includes Madison and the surrounding area) went 2-1 for Kerry 66-33 percent. We carried Wisconsin for Kerry/Edwards, I'm proud to say.

2. Clark County/Nevada
Here in Vegas, Kerry won!
Also the electronic voting machines here in Vegas had a paper trail BUT the machine asked if you wanted a "receipt".
When I got done voting, I asked the a election worker,
where is my reciept? He said oh it does not print for you its for a paper trail. I felt better.
Now I can't speak about the other machines in Nevada since Kerry lost every where else.

28. Can you clarify this for me
you didn't get to see your votes on the paper trail? If not, that's not a voter-verified paper trail. You could have selected Kerry and have it appear on the touchscreen as your selection, then the code placed your vote as one for *, and the printed record they have at the end of the day added your vote into the * accumulated total.

So please tell me Nevada really had a voter vertified paper trail, please....

8. My 8th District New York, voted around 80 percent Dem
from what I can gather, although I haven't been able to find my precinct results yet. New York Board of Elections is supposed to post after it certifies.

My sister and mother's precinct (Neabsco, Prince William County, Virginia) gave Kerry just under 64%. Very high turnout around 70%, hour waits on line. They had the option of voting on old lever machines or touch screens, and most chose the familiar levers, according to sister.

In my brother's precinct (107, Washington DC), it is more fun to count the number of Republican votes. Out of 1,572 registered voters in the 107th precinct, only 17 came out to cast their vote for Bush, or 2.16%. In the ward as whole, Bush percentages ran as low as 1.66% (12 Bush votes out of a possible 1,322 in precinct 117). Of the 40,987 registered voters in the entire voting ward, a mere 3.27% went to Bush. Kerry fared much better, 96.13% for Ward 8.

13. Bush 54, Kerry 46 in Hillsborough, FL.
With a good sized university (Univ. of South Florida), and a real push by Democratic organizations, I really thought it was a tossup here.

But Jeb really appeals to the Cuban American community, and this state will essentially roll over for ANY business or Developer to do what they want, so it's not outside the realm of possibility.

Most - 60% at least, I'd guess - of suburbanites backed W. My office was at least 70-30, and most of the arguments (such as they were) came back to - are you ready for this? - TAX CUTS.

Unfreakingbelievable. Toss a couple hundred bucks at people making 50-70k, and they're yours. But I did hear the "flip flopper" meme tossed around.

But his electorate here was POLARIZED. After 2000, opinions hardened.

The fact that Kerry was a war hero (no he wasn't, the SBVT said he wasn't!), a distinguished Senator (name one thing, just one), a respected MODERATE (Most liberal member of the senate) didn't register.

These folks bought ALL that BS hook, line, and sinker. When I gave them - AND WALKED THEM THROUGH - the SBVT lies, they STILL didn't want to believe.

When I WALKED THEM THROUGH the falsity of the "flip flopper" meme, they still believed.

When I gave them GOVERMENT facts and figures that didn't support the "Liberal" argument, they still believed.

And when they reached a point where they had NO empirical leg to stand on, they simply said "I don't have time/interest/etc" in the discussion, and left.

If my son gets drafted in 10 years, I want to look up a few of these folks and ask them again if they thought re electing the single most undeserving candidate in history was worth it.

Unfreakingreal.

We put our city, county and state into the BLUE.
Kerry won our county by 4000 votes. Gore won Kalamazoo county by 553, so we're pretty proud of the work we did.
We had one precinct, Kalamazoo City #9 vote Kerry over bush 882-40. Really. I wouldn't make that up.

Forget the actual tallies, but the Kerry to Bush ratio was easily 2:1, and there were over 750 straight Dem votes versus around 350 straight GOP votes (the village offices posted a ballot with the tallies next to each entry on their front door.)

We're around 15 minutes from Madison, so a good bit more liberal than many of the small towns.

The Republican haven in NH, Bedford NH (home of John Sununu and SNL's Seth Meyers (a Democrat))did not give Bush much gain. In 2000 Bush won 6,381-3,624. This year Bush won 6,836-4,047 giving * maybe a 100 vote larger margin. As for Hillsborough county Bush won. Kerry didn't even win Manchester.

35. Albany (NY) County - 60% Kerry, 38% Bush, 2% Nader
Thank God I live in a BLUE state and in a BLUE area! Saratoga County, North of Albany voted 53% Bush and 45% Kerry. Chemung County, the redneck county in NY that I grew up in went 54% Bush, 43% Kerry.

Places I've Lived:

Erie County (NY): 56/42 Kerry

Onondaga County (NY): 54/44 Kerry

Pima County (AZ): 52/47 Kerry

San Diego County (CA): 52/47 Bush

People assume all of CA and NY are very Liberal, but San Diego County and a large portion of Upstate New York are quite conservative. People bought into the dogma and garbage that monkey-boy and crash-cart were peddling this past year. I heard more "I hate Bush, but I can't vote for Kerry -- sooooo, I'm voting for Bush. The more you talked to these people, the more crap they spewed. Because sex-offender O'Reilly and Rush the Druggie said it was true, it was gospel.

My wife works in Saratoga County. When she crossed the county line, she got stares, middle-fingers, people screaming at her, swearing at her and one even fake-running her off the road due to her bumper stickers. My car got spit on the day after Black Tuesday. We each have a Kerry/Edwards and a W with a circle/slash through it. She has a "PROUD TO BE A DEMOCRAT". That's it! Yet, it's enough to enrage certain people.

I wish there was more we could have done to win this election in such a convincible fashion that no amount of box-stuffing could change the result. Alas, with this administration and its lackies the media, we'll be hard pressed to make the case.

T - Delmar, NY

39. I'm in a Republican County but Kerry did well here
Kevin Shelley tried his best to make the electins safe. Unfortunately, we had those bad machines. But Kevin promised to compare totals from the precints and counties and a half million people voted absentee here. In the districts I monotored, the poll workers failed to mention provisional ballots to the voters not on the list. I jumped in and told a couple. I don't know if there was any fixing but I do know that in the precincts I monitored there was 100% turnout from Dems.

now that i'm looking at these numbers, i'm wondering if kerry's total is low. alameda county includes oakland and berkeley, and so far i've only met 2 people who admitted to voting for *...in 4 years. everybody hates * here, everywhere i go...the bank, grocery store, work, public transportation, bars, poetry events and concerts...people talk about how much they detest him everywhere.

62. I think this may be how they boost * numbers - by padding in known
liberal districts, not enough to make him win, which would arouse suspicion, and riots, but pad through out and suddenly you've got a 3 million voter mandate and a much closer state.

73. touch-screens are used in alameda county
Edited on Sun Nov-07-04 11:28 PM by noiretblu
what a coincidence! 'm sure * picked up some votes in the city of alameda which has a lot of military folks, but i can't believe kerry didn't fare better considering oakland and berkeley are also in alameda county.
The 2000 numbers...it looks like Dems picked up some votes...but we had touch screens in place then.

50. 51% Kerry 48% Bush in MN
which is complete crap.

He was 8 points up over Bush in exit polls. We have that nasty SOS Mary Kiffmeyer, who is the NATIONAL head of the Secretaries of State. I smell a big fish (and I don't mean northern trout). We had turnout of nearly 78%.

64. Kerry won Douglas County, KS
Dems in our county also sent two more people to the KS legislature and unseated three Republican incumbants at the county level (could be more than that, I just got up). THIS is why I can't believe that the large crowds voting in FL and OH were all for Bush. Our local party did a MASSIVE GOTV campaign, we got alot of new (young) voters and had a record turnout at the polls AND thru early voting.

John Kerry and John Edwards 827990

George Bush and Dick Cheney 186287

M. Badnarik and R. Campagna 5250

Works out to about 82-18% for Kerry/Edwards. Pretty sweet.
