Re- Thanking the Stand-Up Congressional Dems
Edited on Fri Jan-07-05 02:37 AM by snot
What I'd really like is for someone to set up a web page where w/ one click we could use a credit card to contribute $10 or some other amount to the election/re-election campaigns of each of the Dems who spoke for election reform today.

(and as I understand, they are:
Senators Barbara Boxer D/CA
Hillary Clinton D/NY
Debbie Stabenow D/MI
Edward Kennedy D/MA
Ron Wyden D/OR
Frank Lautenberg D/NJ
Harry Reid D/NV
Tom Harken D/IA
Barack Obama D/IL
Christopher Dodd D/CT
Richard Durbin
and
Reps. Stephanie Tubbs-Jones
John Conyers
Corrine Brown
Julia Carson
Bill Clay
James Clyburn
Danny Davis
Lane Evans
Bob Filner
Raul Grijalva
Alcee Hastings
Maurice Hinchey
Jesse Jackson Jr.
Sheila Jackson-Lee
Eddie Bernice Johnson
Carolyn Kilpatrick
Dennis Kucinich
Barbara Lee
John Lewis
Ed Markey
Cynthia McKinney
John Olver
Major Owens
Frank Pallone
Donald Payne
Jan Schakowsky
Bennie Thompson
Maxine Waters
Diane Watson
Lynn Woolsey

Is there anyone out there who could do this?

6. They did not all vote yea. They still deserve thanks.
All we needed was one vote. Why pay more when you can buy what you need for one.

I'm among those who believe add'l votes would have brought us more grief than help.

All who stood up exposed themselves as targets for attack, and all clearly spent the night working out what to say that would help most to obtain further investigation and reform.

7. the speakers who didn't vote for were having it both ways. they
can say they stood up but they don't have the burden of voting. that makes the INTENSELY cowardly to me. Boxer is the only senator worth a damn at crunch time.

So, they said a few words. talk is cheap.

You've got so many players. They can only take so many hits before they're out of the game. I just don't see that we would have gained enough to make it worth setting them all up to take more fire at this point.

For the same reason, I approve Kerry's approach. If he'd been in it all this time, he'd be history by now.
