Scarborough--I thought my head would explode! |
|
Just made the mistake of watching the first 5 minutes of Scarborough Country. He started out with various clips from the circus, and went right into an editorial about Barbara Boxer, John Conyers, and everything that happened today--basically doing a "Jane, you ignorant slut" routine. He even called Barbara, "Babs", like he somehow knows her familiarly. He said Barbara was spouting unsubstantiated conspiracy theories from the tinfoil hat internet club (I believe that's us), and something about how Conyers couldn't even count turkeys. Then he had Howard Fineman on, which I used to hold a modicum of respect for, and basically echo'd the same sentiment. I will be getting on his MSNBC blog in the morning, and telling him that Barbara has way more class (and balls) than he could ever possibly hope for!

2. Earlier, someone complained |

about another segment of his program. You would probably be better off not watching that at all.

I've happened to catch a few minutes of Scarborough over the last few days, while flipping through the channels. Not only is the fuckwad debating whether or not the Tsunami disaster is "punishment" from God, but it's a RECURRING segment. Apparently, he feels it's a topic that needs a week of debate and civic discussion. Can you fucking believe that? Even in the fevered craziness after 9-11 such insane ideas were roundly rebuked (when expressed by Falwell, though, in fairness, those sentiments were expressed about the deaths of innocent Americans, a privileged class of humans worthy of infinite sympathy and unending attention to their suffering, unlike dark-skinned people). After this election, I think all bets are off. The Repukes feel they can be as nutty as they want and nobody can or will do anything about it. The scary thing is, I think they might be right.

4. I'm not much of an Imus fan |

But I did catch him for a minute the other morning, long enough to hear him hold forth on what garbage the Scarborough show is. He was right on that one.

Yes, the circus act was apparently his lead in to how Asia is having god's wrath rained down on them because they're a bunch of heathens. I sent this email to MSNBC this morning: Dear MSNBC: "Apparently, the disenfranchisement of thousands of minority voters in poll tax lines is acceptable to Joe Scarborough. His show last night was incredibly racist. Barbara Boxer (and no--he does NOT have the right to call her, "Babs") is an American hero. She has the guts to stand up for what is right, and is the champion of more than 50% of this country. Scarborough's show was quite offensive. I quit watching it a long time ago, but the TV happened to be on for the first 5 minutes yesterday before I could throw something at it. However, we are big fans of Keith OIbermann, and watch him every night. Think about turning Scarborough's show over to Ron Reagan. He seems to be much more open minded......."
