Do this TODAY to get Republicans in your town to wake up
I tried this and it worked like a charm.

Bring a newspaper or online publication with you to public places. Make comments like, "Wow, isn't that something? Did you hear about how the Democrats challenged the Ohio electors?" (Chances are they didn't). Then tell them about the C-Span hearings you watched yesterday, and inform them about the rampant voting fraud, crooked voting machines, etc, and how the Republicans dismissed it all as a wild conspiracy theory.

I tried this this morning at the skating rink. By the time I was done, I had two Republicans hopping mad at their Representative and at the media for not telling them what's been happening. I gave them links to the Conyers report and the Congress.gov site to contact their own Representatives. I urged them to say that they are Republicans who voted for him, but they are outraged by this and want REAL voting reform.

The points I raised were:
1. 10 hour lines in Ohio in minority neighborhoods, while rich white neighborhoods had no lines (while extra voting machines sat unused in warehouses)
2. Bush re-election co-chair is the Secretary of State in Ohio
3. Voting machine companies are owned by GOP donors and have high-level executives convicted of bribing public officials
4. Some machines were pre-programmed to register default votes for Bush. If a voter didn't vote for president at all, it counted as a vote for Bush. If they voted for Kerry, it became a "spoiled" ballot that was tossed out. Other machines switched votes from Bush to Kerry on review screens, but I hadn't heard of any instances of switches the other way.
5. The last Ohio county to be counted locked out the media and public from witnessing the count, claiming a terrorist threat had been issued. The FBI says that was a lie.
6. A Florida programmer testified under oath to Senate Judiciary Committee members that he was asked by Republican Congressman Sweeney to create vote-rigging software.
7. When a former Congressman tried to deliver a complaint of voting fraud to Ohio's partisan Secretary of State, he was arrested for trespassing.
8. Congressional Democrats held hearings in Ohio and took testimony from numerous voters, programmers, and other experts documenting fraud, voter suppression, etc. Many courageous Democrats spoke up about this in the challenge yesterday (which wasn't aimed at overturning the election, merely highlighting these problems and calling for reforms to protect voters), but not one single Republican saw anything wrong with what happened in this election.

Try it today--over and over. Ask every Republican you win over to share this information with at least 2 or 3 other people, especially Republicans.

Heck, you can read that same newspaper article for the next several days--then try the news magazines later, if they run stories. We have the power to win this fight--if we can get Republican voters to flood their members' offices and demand electoral reforms, too!

If you like this idea, keep this thread kicked.

14. Many in Texas are fed up with Bush.
Including many of my relatives! They saw what he did to the Texas schools and the environment.

Some insist the only reason Texans voted for Bush was to get him the heck out of Texas!

40. Harris County, Texas (Houston and environs)
Even here in the depths of redneck-ville Bush is not generally liked. I registered 600 voters in October 2004, mostly at the Channelview, Texas Wal-Mart. I heard not a single kind word about the Bushman.

I thought maybe I would get one Bush endorsement from a guy who looked like Timothy McVeigh and who had swastika tattoos on his arms. But even that guy grabbed a voter registration card from my table and said-- "Gimme one of those. We've GOT to get rid of Bush!"

I think people are ready to hear the truth if we get out there and tell it.

9. Write in to your local newspaper editor. My local paper has been
publishing viewers comments regularly about election problems.

Lots of newspapers will publish liberal views on their editorial pages, even if the publisher's overall news slant is conservative.

10. Unfortunately, most of the repuke "true believers" are either
willfully ignorant, or will absolutely deny everything as bullshit, even with tons of evidence.

At this point in time, if Bush said that the only point in America not under water was the Mile-High Stadium, millions of Repukes would make a great show of buying SCUBA gear (while not actually using it).

15. Try it on a total stranger. What have you got to lose?
Some are lost causes, of course. But if every Democrat could convert just one or two Republicans, we'd be the irresistible force meeting the proverbial immovable object.

Go for it!

11. Were you there?
I went to the C-Span party yesterday at the union hall. I had a really good time!

I wish people wouldn't see yesterday as a negative. It was a great victory for us. Bring it on!!

13. No, I'm in San Diego. But we had our own party to watch
at a local labor union hall. What a good show!

Now then, will all of you who try out the method outlined above please report back on how it worked for you? Then kick this thread?

New motto: Making America "see red", one red voter at a time!

20. Sorry I missed meeting you! I was in a black turtleneck and
black pants, with a white pullover... I think. I've been to so many political meetings this week I'm losing track.

Did you know Greg Palast will be in town soon to give a talk? The 17th, if I recall. Definitely a must-see!

24. So tell them! It's just like in Colonial Times, almost.
Lots of people didn"t read newspapers. It took town criers and Paul Revere on his horse to wake up the sleeping masses. So...go saddle up!

19. I'm doing something very simple
I'm writing on paper money "Did your vote count?" That's it. I think red may show up better, but black will work for now.

25. That's good, too, but if people don't know about the fraud,
and only watch Fox News, they might not get it. Keep it up, but if you can distribute some more detailed info, so much the better.

21. I've talked it up already - two "ïndependents" hopping mad
If you had a job where you could not access a computer for very long or a tv, you missed the Dems discussions. Whether independent or Dem - people are upset to hear vote legitimacy is questionable. In my area where computer geeks are everywhere, the electronic voting machine stories gets them hopping mad. "anyone who works with software knows it's NEVER fullproof." One guy works at World Bank who implemented new accounting software and "glitches" prvented them from closing out for the year. Duh...

32. It´d be interesting if people could
tell stories here of conversations they had about election fraud.

It is easy to loose perspective if you only read reports and articles, it´s more fun to hear about the reactions of someones mother or grandparents!
