Some of These Posts Are Getting Pretty Obvious In Their Attempt to Divide
Blaming Michael Moore, insisting there is a huge divide, bashing Kerry beyond reason, posting highly inflammatory messages with hysterical headings etc.

It is also interesting to observe how many original posters throw their bombs and never return to comment.

1. Yep. I've been watching this trend as well.
Lots of people trying to sow dissension. Gotta love it.

23. We warned against the
low poster prejudice but it is quite possible some more astute trolls have boarded the ship flying false colors. I wouldn't even begin to know the names but the impression I am getting, setting aside the fact that newbies come in infected by the media, is that they are primarily interested in exciting rage and division toward whatever voices or leadership have shown both hope and flaws.

In a way, since this is not the idiot flame war variety easily found and tombstoned, it is more intriguing than threatening and no longer arouses the paranoia so much as shows who among us is still prone to be hoodwinked into negativity.

The cure seems to be to ignore foolish outrage and unproductive negativity and to especially restrain ourselves from the same regarding imperfect friends. If such newbies could similarly be warned about the mortal vice of emotional divisiveness when it disrupts or poisons serious discussion boards, more could be encouraged to vent in the lounge where actually it is easier to balance the wildness back to common sense.

I think we can survive this type of goading with a little more thought, but I would hope some moderator is seriously keeping an eye on certain posters as they accumulate a detectable record that adds up to the misshapen figure, the warped mind, the recognizable agenda and devilish insinuation of trolldom.

My point is that once one reaches 1000 posts and puts in a few bucks for a star, a certain credibility is conferred that must be the goal of any serious enemy(if any). At the same time most people take low posters seriously without regard to any mysterious probationary period or credentials. So it is most of all up to board members to watch their own behavior and not get sloppy when tempted to run on in another's angry direction.

11. Just calling something an "opinion" doesn't make it a sacred proposition
Edited on Fri Jan-07-05 01:07 PM by Vinnie From Indy
Using that logic, you would have us entertain and debate all opinions based solely on the fact that they have popped into somebody's head. Slavery, genocide and torture are all opinions. Should we respect them?

3. Post positive threads -- it helps!
And don't even look at or comment on the negative threads. I just did a few minutes ago, thinking I was helping someone understand yesterday's events better - but now that I am reading your post I am realizing my error.

from them. Whole bunch of important shit was bumped down for negative comment.

So a pact? Avoid Shrills and doomsayers?

Hey if you want reassurance we'll back ya, but if you want me to whine, I just can't do it. There is too much to do. I don't have time to whine.

5. Everyone has a right to their opinion
what's great about this board is no one tries to squelch it.
Try rewriting the first post here from a Rep point of veiw and posting it at FR, it will be deleted and you banned in less than 5 minutes.

9. While that may be true...
A lot of obvious disruptors use that logic to take advantage of the benefit of the doubt and continue to provoke silly discussions that the more thin-skinned and/or gullible among us (and I'm no exception here) continually fall for.

Posting anything honest at Free Republic got me deleted and banned. Probably for the best...trolling is for suckers.

13. And it won't work - we will remain united against the Bush administration.
We know what happened yesterday was an incredible victory, or at least an incredible piece of political theater, that allowed us a debate on Election Protection (when before the GOP made certain we would get no such debate in Congress).

The divider threads are ill-advised, but have little real impact - Democrats, Greens, Libertarians, etc. all united in the challenge. And we remain united against the Bush administration.
