United Against Bush
We, the Democrats, the Greens, the Libertarians, the Independents, the activists, the disaffected all stand united.

Against the real enemy - George W. Bush - arguably the most destructive president in American history.

After this four-year debacle, we will need to remain united to recover our sense of national pride, and our good standing in the world. Cheering for a war does not unite a nation.

Protecting Votes Can.

1. Agreed.
We'll never get our democracy back unless we can have a clean election. Verifiable voting and national standards have to be our number one priority!

2. Suddenly....
I feel like John Brown or Frederick Douglass. I am filled with unutterably loathing. I am with you. Somehow, I feel that we, the united opposition, need a name and a reputation that will make blood turn cold. We are a cause that will be heard.

3. Good words.
And, in reality, this administration is the enemy of all of us -- freepers, conservatives, republicans included -- except that the freepers don't know it yet.

7. First thing to do
is get the message out. We need to get progressive talk radio shows out there. This would be much easier than TV. But how? I have no idea who to talk/write/email to get AA or other lefty shows on the air. If we don't get the message out, no one will care if the elections get cleaned up or not. Some listen to RW radio just for back ground noise, but the lies stick in their heads. We need to get the message out. How?

9. Hmm - yes, you need to contact your local stations and tell them you are
1. not satisfied with the bias of their programming. Cite examples if you can.
or
2. looking for them to pick up folks like...

I was also kinda daydreaming about a loose confederation of net radio hosts, running progressive programming, perhaps outtakes of the White Rose Society Archives - we could get a listing in Apple's iTunes.

:) kinda kidding about iTunes.

11. I think a good first move is to get a huge letter writing and phone
campaign to demand of each Secretary of State that there will be no more touch screen machines without a verifiable paper trail. Hound them every day, every week, every hour if need be to make sure they know we don't want them in our states and if they already are being used in our states, get rid of them if a paper trail cannot be used with the existing machines. There is a voting machine called 'True Vote' I believe, that is a system we should research and see if we can get those machines in our states. They give a receipt to the voter, and have an identical receipt (which can be seen) that drops into a box for a hand count.

12. I'm thinking there is less of a split in Du than first appeared
Reading more posts today, I'm thinking we are really all on the same page. Different paragraph on the page maybe, but on the same thought at least.

Everyone is in favor of the statement made yesterday, as a minimum. I think nearly everyone agrees that the point of yesterday's action was to make a statement.

...There are those who think the statement made yesterday in congress is all that could have been expected and was therefore a good thing.

...Then there are those who think the statement should have been stronger.

There is much more in common beween the two positions than there are differences. Emotions were running high yesterday, making the differences seem more important than they really are.
