IDEA TO SPREAD THE WORD ABOUT THIS FIGHT.
Edited on Sat Jan-08-05 08:45 PM by mordarlar
Below is a link to a thread with the "mosh" video. I was thinking, what if we tried to contact Eminem and let him know of the fraud. I can think of few people who could, or would, get the word out about our cause more efficiently than him. I have a fax no. for a rep of his record company. Any opinions?

If anyone has not seen the video, i recommend you do. It is very powerful, no matter what you think of the performer.

9. Are you kidding???
Hell, there's enough material in the debates alone to produce an hours long rap session to be a sequel to Mosh.

You have a great point, we need to get in your face ads onto MTV. Perhaps intercuts of video of long lines and the R's expounding the virtues of the election in Ohio? Our PhDs and JDs lecturing in classes and them calling us x-files wing.... How about the tag line: Was it in the paper? or As NOT seen on TV? My mind has been swimming because of the available material.

You get the idea.

I LOVE IT! I smiled when I saw "Kerry" next to a sign that read "count every vote". Oh, man, it would be sweet to have him do the rally!! There were credits at the end with several websites listed - it went too fast and I'll have to go back to see them (no time now - someone else want to?) and perhaps that would be the first place to start by going there and contacting those who worked on the video - thoughts?

Eminem's Mosh - the New Ending
Director’s note: The original version of our video for Eminem’s Mosh was a cultural phenomenon beyond our wildest dreams. The video hit number one on MTV’s Total Request Live within 24 hours of its premiere on October 25th. Internet message boards talked of grandmothers crying while watching it. There were (unconfirmed) reports of runs on black hoodies at Foot Lockers across the country. New York magazine called it “the most important piece of mainstream dissent since the 60s.” The Asia Times’s terrorism expert Pepe Escobar wrote, “For an 18-year-old voting for the first time, Mosh provokes the same impact that the barricades of May 1968 in Paris did on the ‘children of Mao and Coca-Cola,’ as film genius Jean-Luc Godard put it.” But not everyone loved it. Some lefties derided what they called its simplistic “get out the vote” message, saying it played into the system it alleged to attack. New York Press film critic Almond White wrote, “This isn’t a plebiscite; it’s a mob…the video presumes all young people think alike, leaving no room for choice in the election or in lifestyle.”

Regardless of how you felt about Mosh, the video sparked emotions that had been suppressed for four years. There were certain things you just could not say in George Bush’s America. Like Fahrenheit 9/11, Mosh seemed to be one of the lone pieces of mainstream media to be saying (at least some of) them. And in the week leading up to the election, those inside the media who felt burned by the administration took off the restraints and wielded their power to promote America’s most popular (and despised) artist’s statement against the Bush Administration. It was a safe way for the all to speak out by joining the mob of Mosher’s from their Times Square offices.

But did it make a difference?

It’s a question I’ve been asked a million times since the video premiered: “But did it turn out the youth vote?” Released too late to influence voter registration in almost all states, there is no clear way to gauge the effect, if any, it had.

We do know this: Despite early misleading reports, the youth vote did show up on election day. According to CIRCLE , 20.9 million Americans under the age of 30 voted in the election. That’s 4.6 million more than cast ballots in 2000. This turnout represents a 9.3% increase nationwide and in the battleground states turnout was even higher, up 13% over 2000. But young people weren’t the only ones who showed up. Voters of all ages also showed up in record numbers and the 18-29 demographic was the only group to favor the Democratic ticket (54% – 44%) in the presidential race.

The original version of the video ends with Eminem’s black hoodie mob casting their vote in an act of defiance against a corrupt and illegitimate regime. But voting was only part of the video’s message. It was a larger call to arms for a generation alienated by a system that only sees young people as consumers, criminals or cannon fodder.

In this alternative ending for the video, we remind all those who were inspired by the first version to not give up the fight. In our corporation-controlled duopoly, sometimes you have to take other measures to have your voice heard. So if you are still searching for answers, know that our opinions still matter. Our hope is that it will show our battered teammates and the rest of the world that we are not here to say sorry but instead, the fight continues and we will be heard…

57. You bet it made a difference!!! KICK!
"That’s 4.6 million more than cast ballots in 2000."

A statistics expert, Steven Freeman, put together what he estimated should have been Kerry's true margin of victory in the election, 5.4 million voters.

He took the Kerry/Bush base vote from 2000, added the new voter registrations (--a blowout for the Dems, Dem 57% to Repub 41%), and added the big bump from Nader and Green voters voting for Kerry. He figured many young people into the new reg category. Even if they registered after "Mosh," it surely influenced them TO vote, once registered.

For Freeman's analysis, see:
http://www.appliedresearch.us/sf/epdiscrep.htm

(His first paper is also great:)
http://www.truthout.org/unexplainedexitpoll.pdf

The new Eminem needs to emphasize fraud and why it happened (that the BushCons--big Bush donors and backers, one of whom, Wally O'Dell, even put in writing his pledge to "deliver" Ohio to Bush in '04--the head of an electronic voting company!) OWN AND CONTROL our voting system, and hold the source code by which all of our votes are counted as SECRET, proprietary information.

BushCons behind the curtain--like the Wizards of Oz--with their secret source code.

Many new and young voters may be very discouraged, and never vote again. They need to know what must be done to regain our right to vote.

Best solution:

Paper ballots
Hand counts

or

A 1st count paper receipt for every vote (it takes priority over electronic results in a recount), and
Open source code!

We also need honest Exit Polls to check for fraud (as they do everywhere else in the world).

---

An aspect of the election that may interest Eminem is that the TV networks ALTERED the Exit Polls that were showing a Kerry win all afternoon. When the BushCon controlled electronic "official results" started coming in, they CHANGED the Exit Polls to fit the "officials results," making it look like Bush was winning both the Exit Polls and the "official results." This was NOT true. Kerry won in the Exit Polls (which are used worldwide to check for fraud).

So Americans were denied the information that there were two conflicting figures--the Exit Polls (Kerry won) and the "official results" (Bush won).

In the Ukraine, people could see the two separate, conflicting figures, and could tell right away that something was very wrong. They rebelled. They got a re-vote.

The TV networks thus KILLED any rebellion of Kerry voters. We "lost" the election and the election fraud fight due to this ILLUSION.

It was the most outrageous journalistic crime I have ever seen, bar none.

They should never have done this! The pollster (Mitosfky) gives the excuse that the Exit Poll was not commissioned (by the networks) to check for election fraud (oh no! not against BushCons, no!), but for demographic information (how many young black women in inner cities voted for Bush, etc.) (ha,ha). But the US had an entirely new and controversial voting system, never tested nationally--and known to be unreliable, insecure, and very hackable, as well as controlled by people committed to Bush's election.

Why DIDN'T they poll for evidence of fraud? The situation cried out for it.

This really is just an excuse on Mitofsky's part--he's trying to explain away why his Exit Poll differed from the "official result" (aside from the obvious explanation--election fraud!). But he ALSO says that there is no reason that the demographic data can't be used to check for fraud!

Also, statistical experts, techies and crazy Leftist bloggers got hold of the afternoon Exit Poll data (which was later changed) by taking screen shots of CNN, etc. They thus preserved the facts about the Kerry win of the Exit Polls--and later got leaked full data. It is analysis of this data which shows astronomical odds against Bush winning. (The Exit Polls simply can't be that wrong--it is virtually impossible.)

It's a great story of smart, alert citizens, being swifter than the networks and catching the BushCons in the act of stealing the election (late in the day).

Send fraud info to all the pop artists, starting with those who supported Dems.

Springstein, Dixie Chicks...

Also the Hollywood crowd...Streisand, Rob Reiner, Ed Asner, etc.
Google to find their agents and send there. Hey--LA DUers, get one of those Hollywood maps of stars' homes--write down the addresses and mail stuff directly to their homes.

Urge all of them to bring up voting fraud in any talk show appearances that they make.

Comics, too. Jon Stewart, Leno...

How about stand-up comics who do the comedy club circuit? If you know any, send it there, too.

A Corporate Election ...Barbra Streisand
Posted on December 6, 2004

Regardless of partisanship, the essence of our voting process must have integrity. Why are we allowing private for-profit corporations, loyal to politicians that give them lucrative contracts worth millions of dollars, manage our votes? How can we trust the outcome of our elections when we have outsourced the managing of our electoral process and the counting of the ballots to private corporations who keep secret from election administrators the program codes for their software and refuse to offer a verifiable auditable paper trail for each vote? We cannot have a system where we entrust the fate of our country to corporations who only need to answer to their board members and shareholders and not to the American people. If we allow such a system to prevail, we will find ourselves steeped in voter fraud election after election.

snip----------------------------------

end paragrah..........

We clearly are fighting an uphill battle. There will be a recount of the votes in Ohio, and hopefully we will see some of the errors corrected. However, we will never fully know the real count of all the votes and the extent of the voter fraud since we don't have a way to audit the vote with a paper trail. But in these next four years, we need to expend all of our energy to demand that corporations get their hands off our vote! And that we have machines owned by local governments and maintained, operated and programmed by civil servants. Because if we continue to have elections run by private companies that are immersed in conspiracy and fraud, more and more voters will become cynical and decide to stay home on Election Day. Ultimately that only helps deliver the Republican's another victory.

56. I'm thinking more Dr. Dre
Many rappers speak to social/racial injustice. They also demand A LOT of attention and respect of the people who listen to their music/watch their videos. What better way to bring the AA youth in touch with the very recent history of what their parents had to do/be subjected to in order to vote. What a great way to get out the vote as well!

79. OMG i just watched it,
i have seen it many times before but its been awhile. its so powerful i have goose bumps and tears.

this is the DU voice. this is our song our march. i can barely breath right now.

just thinking that the others would never understand this.

Come along, follow me as I lead through the darkness
As I provide just enough spark, that we need to proceed
Carry on, give me hope, give me strength,
Come with me, and I won't stear you wrong
Put your faith and your trust as I guide us through the fog
Till the light, at the end, of the tunnel, we gonna fight,
We gonna charge, we gonna stomp, we gonna march through the swamp
We gonna mosh through the marsh, take us right through the doors

--- this should be the chant as we march.

43. MOSH!
Mosh

by Unknown
I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America
And to the Republic for which it stands
One nation under God
Indivisible
It feels so good to be back..

Scrutinize every word, memorize every line
I spit it once, refuel, reenergize, and rewind
I give sight to the blind, mind sight through the mind
I ostracize my right to express when I feel it's time
It's just all in your mind, what you interpret it as
I say to fight you take it as I'm gonna whip someone's ass
If you don't understand don't even bother to ask
A father who has grown up with a fatherless past
Who has blown up now to rap phenomenon that has
Or at least shows no difficulty multi task
And juggling both, perhaps mastered his craft slash
Entrepreneur who has held long too few more rap acts
Who has had a few obstacles thrown his way through the last half
Of his career typical manure moving past that
Mister kiss his ass crack, he's a class act
Rubber band man, yea he just snaps back

Come along, follow me as I lead through the darkness
As I provide just enough spark, that we need to proceed
Carry on, give me hope, give me strength,
Come with me, and I won't stear you wrong
Put your faith and your trust as I guide us through the fog
Till the light, at the end, of the tunnel, we gonna fight,
We gonna charge, we gonna stomp, we gonna march through the swamp
We gonna mosh through the marsh, take us right through the doors

To the people up top, on the side and the middle,
Come together, let's all bomb and swamp just a little
Just let it gradually build, from the front to the back
All you can see is a sea of people, some white and some black
Don't matter what color, all that matters is we gathered together
To celebrate for the same cause, no matter the weather
If it rains let it rain, yea the wetter the better
They ain't gonna stop us, they can't, we're stronger now more then ever,
They tell us no we say yea, they tell us stop we say go,
Rebel with a rebel yell, raise hell we gonna let em know
Stomp, push up, mush, fuck Bush, until they bring our troops home come on just . . .

We gonna mosh through the marsh, take us right through the doors, come on

Imagine it pouring, it's raining down on us,
Mosh pits outside the oval office
Someone's trying to tell us something, maybe this is God just saying
we're responsible for this monster, this coward, that we have empowered
This is Bin Laden, look at his head nodding,
How could we allow something like this, Without pumping our fist
Now this is our, final hour
Let me be the voice, and your strength, and your choice
Let me simplify the rhyme, just to amplify the noise
Try to amplify the times it, and multiply it by six
Teen million people are equal of this high pitch
Maybe we can reach Al Quaida through my speech
Let the President answer on high anarchy
Strap him with AK-47, let him go
Fight his own war, let him impress daddy that way
No more blood for oil, we got our own battles to fight on our soil
No more psychological warfare to trick us to think that we ain't loyal
If we don't serve our own country we're patronizing a hero
Look in his eyes, it's all lies, the stars and stripes
They've been swiped, washed out and wiped,
And Replaced with his own face, mosh now or die
If I get sniped tonight you'll know why, because I told you to fight

So come along, follow me as I lead through the darkness
As I provide just enough spark, that we need to proceed
Carry on, give me hope, give me strength,
Come with me, and I won't stear you wrong
Put your faith and your trust as I guide us through the fog
Till the light, at the end, of the tunnel, we gonna fight,
We gonna charge, we gonna stomp, we gonna march through the swamp
We gonna mosh through the marsh, take us right through the doors

And as we proceed, to mosh through this desert storm, in these closing statements, if they should argue, let us beg to differ, as we set aside our differences, and assemble our own army, to disarm this weapon of mass destruction that we call our president, for the present, and mosh for the future of our next generation, to speak and be heard, Mr. President, Mr. Senator

50. It's not ACC it's FwCC
I watched it three times, then paused it and went frame by frame. It says FwCC. The w is in red scrawled between the black F and the first C.

53. I assume it is a sign that has two meanings
Fuck W as one protest sign and protesting the recent actions of the FCC (the fines for Janet Jacksons boob, censoring/fining Howard Stern, etc.).

67. Computers count the vote so no one can see, They claim Bush won
I say prove it to me...

George Wimp Bush is a punk ass bitch
Crony capitalist only cares about the rich

Blew the surplus, now deficit's sky high
While soldiers in Iraq continue to die

Bush couldn't win, so Karl Rove said
Call Uncle Tom Blackwell he's in bed

With haters who don’t want blacks
Voting anyway, he can bring in the hacks

Blackwell said, “let me lick your boots”
“I can prove I done forgot my roots”

“My loyalty to corporations and the GOP”
“Means I will be rewarded so f*** the OP”

Less machines so the lines are long
In democratic precincts, that’s just wrong

Blackwell’s excuses just don’t fly
Mama didn’t raise a fool, I can spot a lie

Computers count votes so no one can see
They claim Bush won, I say prove it to me

75. Mordarlar: Try this - I had these instructions saved from the
fax the senator campaign.

C4T

---------------------------------------
You can send an eFax to anyone (up to 5 every 24+ hours). The service is provided by: http://www.tpc.int/ /

Note: you have to wait 24 hours and 5 minutes before sending the next five. If everyone sends 5 faxes a day... it will add up.

You just have to format the email address like this:
remote-printer.recipient_name@fax_number.iddd.tpc.int

recipient_name = The name you are sending to. Use _ for space.
fax_number = The fax number you are sending to. Use 1+Areacode+number

So, if you wanted to send a efax to Senator Byrd the address would look like this:
mailto:%20remote-printer.Senator_Byrd@12022280002.iddd.tpc.int

(Senator Byrd's fax number is 202-228-0002)

For a list of fax numbers for all of the Senators, you can look at the following page:
http://www.nationalalliance.org/gulf/senators.htm

76. Can we create a new thread that says
"Contact "Mosh" producers to get Eminem to create it live 1/20" ?

And then list the contact info - The fact he had Kerry and Edwards in the video with tears streaming down their faces holding up signs saying "Count every vote" is proof enough to me he'd be so willing make Mosh a reality on 1/20.
