PICTURES: 1/06/05 DC Rally & March -- Keep the Faith!!!!!
Edited on Sun Jan-09-05 12:26 PM by autorank
Rally at Lafayette Park

Pre-rally news interview, David Cobb, Green Candidate, chief litigant, Ohio fraud suit.

Rev. Jackson tells the truth. Note NOW sign (their President also spoke)

Ohio ***VOTING RIGHTS*** activist reports on the search for the truth.

Representing the Hip-Hop Coalition, rapper & Ohio folks do a number (one of the best parts of the day)

Crowd disperses from Lafayette Park marching 1.0 mile to Capitol Hill

The Not So Long March

Yeah, though I walk through the Valley of the Lobbyists, on the street headed for the Hill.

Cabbies come out of cabs to high-five marchers (one of numerous signs of support)

“May I ask your destination?” Exact words of this very friendly senior DC Police official. “Capitol Hill, sir.” And he gave us directions.

View of the cross-roads of democracy, Capitol Hill, mid day. Chilling.

The long march is nearing an end.

Park Next to Dirksen Senate Office Building and Across from US Capitol

We were greeted by troubadours and merriment by the Lytel gathered crowd already on Capitol Hill.

David Lytel checks his email while the crowd is entertained.

The US Flag at half mast over the Senate Office Building (for Rep. Matsui & also in honor of what would be done that day). David Lytel at podium.

Great speaker and ***VOTING RIGHTS*** activist rouses the crowd.

The signs say it all:

The Capitol of the United States (House & Senate) at mid day. Police told people, only members and those with staff ID’s. So much for “the people’s House.”

DU rabble rouser shows respect by displaying fellow DEM blog sign.

1. Thanks, shared it with email lists
and nice photos. Here in San Diego we have had only cooperation from the local PD... it looks like you have too...

This is a very good sign and yes this is the begining of a second civil rights movement

4. It felt like the beginning of a really great movement.
The atual crowd was smaller than we'd have liked but the energy was AWSOME, just amaxing feeling. It was also a who's who from civil rights, womens rights (Pres of Now), and voting rights (the real activists on the ground in OH).

The DC police escorted the march, which was not "permitted" and made sure we were not hasseled in traffic. The officer in the pic was giving us the thumbs up when one of the marchers said "join us."

Just great.

19. Heartwarming. Thanks! And there's definitely a new energy, and if you
haven't had a chance to go to a rally yet, do it if you can!

Just looking around at the other faces is an incredibe tonic.

:)
