We feel there will be extensive links through out the site to our friends who support us as well as directly pertinent info sites.

This is a work in progress, and we want your input, we need your critiques so don't hesitate to contact us. I believe Ive written everyone who has emailed or PM'd me because even if your idea has already been discussed or you feel its nitpicky or whatever, we really appreciate the fact that you care enough to give us you thoughts!

our local alternative weekly, the Reader, just published an expose article on our homegrown rogues on the City Council, along with others exerting corrupting influences.

The front page of the newspaper is all black, with nothing but the headline and a bunch of photos of these crooks, each with a number.

We joked that we should turn them into playing cards--with Pretender-to-the-throne Mayor Murphy (who really lost to Donna Frye if all the ballots are counted) as the Ace of Spades.

why not post info at DU lounge as well.

AND - use some of that cohesiveness everyone is talking about within the new VOTE group (check with arnheim)- they're setting up contacts with many other voting activist groups who have people that probably watched the objections too. Then you can ask some of the other sites to publicize the thankyou site so you'll get lots more photos.

Ive only been on since a bit after the elections as well, but I have a lot of time to use up at night since I cant stand tv anymore (well some cable stuff I like and a network show here and there). I also get a large chunk of my workday to hang out on DU, I probably spend 8 hours or so a day on here. So I've seen a lot of what DU has to offer in a short period of time.... but I don't think I've even scratched the surface! theres so many interesting topics that have been discussed and debated in depth by very knowledgeable people here. I haven't even delved into the 911 stuff yet! I'm saving that for a slow week in the near future...lol

I spend a lot of time in the lounge when I'm not here which hasn't been much lately, until today. I need that kind of fast paced thread dropping action most of the time!

and online a good part of the day/evening too. I'm on AOL, and had been in chatrooms (metaphysical and Buddhist)for quite sometime. Then when I realized that there was more to 9/11 than met the eye, I found the news boards there. I posted for about 3 years on 9/11, the war in Iraq, and then onto the elections. I couldn't take dealing with the Republicans anymore (it took a toll on my spirit), and when a friend sent me a couple of links to posts on DU, I felt as if I was home.

So now I have to visit the Lounge and search for the 9/11 board. More new adventures!

Yeah doing the massive open boards and groups is like being in trench warfare of political and cultural ideas.

I was actually on a fairly small private board and I couldnt believe the lows to which some of the members sank... whilst others were just beautiful I had not the heart to do battle like that anymore. Finding DU was like coming home to many of us I think!

Oh the lounge is a different kinda board altogether a wide gamut of nearly anything goes... I reccomend lurking a bit and getting to know some of the ummm personalities over there! We tend to wear our relationships and history with eachother over there on our sleeves. Oh and it can get to be a bit NC-17... but yes DU has a comic side to rival nearly any board on the net! Its also a place wher you can get honest heartfelt support for when your down or sad, or backsliding on some new resolution like quitting smoking... The lounge thumps as the empathetic heart of DU for me.

i think a "return false" needs to be added the onmousedown event for the thumbnails. currently, i'm getting the full-size photo in BOTH a pop-up and a new window (using FireFox).

for example, the code for the first photo link is currently:

I like it, it lets you know that the pictures are there but it doesn't take away (focus from) the pictures of the heroes on the right. If they were all white, it would look too busy, IMO. I just figured out late late last night and this morning that Chili isnt quite ready for a mass amount of pics just yet. The trickle shes been getting is just about the right amount for the moment, Im sure she can handle a few more, but anyway you look at it she needs much more time to get the site ready for launch.

At the same time we dont want to lose momentum for this project, so its just a matter of trying to balance it all, while remaining capable of dealing with how it gets out into the internet. SaveAmerica, that's exactly why I tinted them, though I understand how some might not be crazy about seeing themselves in blue! But I didn't want it to overwhelm the photos of the congress members. The thumbails on the gallery pages will be in full color.
