We should take them to court in a civil lawsuit because.....
no company should have a "patent" on anything that has the possibility of influencing or affecting any part of our electoral process. Our votes supersede the "patent laws" of this nation. They have no right to hide their machines or how they function from the people of this country when it is our votes and our country that is at stake. They need to be dragged into the sunlight! We should take them to court - all the way to the Supreme Court if necessary. They have no right to hide the information in these machines when our democracy is at stake. Mr Soros, do you have the money?

1. Perhaps we should talk to slot tecks at
casinos to show how easy it is to rig the machines.

2. Or just go straight to the owners of the voting machines
You know, the right wing idealogues who support Bush? Ain't hard to "hack" your own code.
The problem is not outside hackers, the problem is the proprietary (hence "black box") and non verifiable code of the machines themselves. Although they are incredibly hackable as well, but I do not believe that is the issue now.

3. Civil lawsuit would work - Mike Papantonio was talking about it on AAR
Ring of Fire today. Que Tam ( I have no idea if that's how you spell it). Voters are the injured parties since corps hired with govt funds to count the votes and failed. Also - RICO, but that's criminal not civil.

5. We must know a trial lawyer.
One who is, by all accounts, one of the best. One who has the time to take on this huge job. One who the majority of Progressives trust. Can anyone think of who this might be?

6. One with a very personal/professional stake in the election results?
 (In case you weren't kidding, it's hard to tell on the net) Actually we know a lot of trusted lawyers. Bob Fitrakis, the one who wrote the article on the rw idealogues who own the vote machine companies, is one. Southern Law Center as mentioned above, National Lawyers Guild, ACLU, Mike Papantonio, Robert F. Kennedy Jr, Elliot Spitzer (he may not be a progressive but all we need is someone who would be fair).
