1/20 -- where to go, what to do?
Edited on Mon Jan-10-05 02:43 PM by garybeck
Is there any organization going on for 1/20. I've had a few people ask me where to go, when, etc... I was looking at redefeatbush.com and I see info about the "ball" but I think people are looking for the big protest. any info will get passed on.thanks.

edit: the question is mainly for people who are planning to go to Washington DC... I'm sure there will be other protests in local areas and if people want to post info about them on this thread as well, then by all means!

I'm pretty sure ANSWER Coalition is organizing the big rally/march

http://www.internationalanswer.org/

CounterInaugural Demonstration
in Washington DC
initiated by the A.N.S.W.E.R. Coalition

Converge at 4th St. & Penn. Ave.
north side of the parade route

A permit has been obtained for a mass convergence at 4th St. and Pennsylvania Ave. along the north side of the parade route. At the same time as we are continuing to fight to stop the government from creating large exclusive use sections lining the public parade route solely for Bush supporters and donors, we want to make it clear to everyone that we have obtained permitted space and that under all circumstances you have the lawful right to come to Pennsylvania Avenue and to make your views known, seen, and heard. >>>Read more

There will be simultaneous protests in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle and other cities on January 20.

Updated logistical information (directions, maps, housing, bus parking, etc.)

View transportation organizing centers to find buses, vans and car caravans from your area! If you are planning to organize buses, vans or car caravans to be in DC, SF or LA on January 20, fill out the Transportation Form to help spread the word.

2. thanks, I'm wondering...
are other groups involved, and is this group involved in election fraud/reform issues?

I hope that some of the signs will draw awareness to the election problems.

3. This is generally the organization
that gets the permits, marching routes, etc - they are more specifically anti-War than anything else, but for the counter-inaugural I think the theme is more broad. As for Election Fraud/Reform groups, I would guess there are some events planned throughout the day for this issue in particular, although I don't know who or what...I just checked a couple sites (e.g. 51capitalmarch.org) who list the Counterinaugural but don't say anything specific.

Haveing been to various rallies, my assumption is that there will be several contingencies with several issues, and all will revolve around hating Bush :) The signs people carry will reflect the variety of issues/priorities people have.

Oh, how I wish I was going....:(

8. That is the perfect thing to do
although I generally advise turning your back on a predator of any description. It's nonviolent and insulting as hell.

Good for you. If I could afford to be there, I'd do the same.
