Stranger in a familiar land |

I'm really freaked out here, guys. I feel like there is no place for me here any more, and I'm becoming increasingly depressed about the direction the country's going to go now.
I walk into my job at the corporation, sit down at my desk and drone on, making some fat-cat one percenter rich, and I want to claw my eyes out with a fucking spoon.
Of course, everyone I work with is a Republican, and it's hard to stand being around them at all. I would never have believed such intelligent-seeming people could be so stupid.
I want to find work as an activist, but I don't even know where to begin looking. Can anyone help me out? I need to be fighting the power, to stave off the depression.
Thanks, ~A!

1. Believe it or not - start with your local Democratic Town Committee |
|
If it's moribund, then revive it. If it's non-existent, then run an ad in your local newspaper. You might be surprised how many follow Dems live in your area. You could make the first order of business to educate everybody about how they stole the election, and brainstorm about what to do about it.

but how to revive it? I pinged the admin on the sight about getting together, but they would have nothing to do with it, said they were taking some time off to recover from the beating we just took. http://wiltondemocrats.org~A!

2. Google "right livelihood".............. |
|
don't keep working at a job your ethics can't live with. Do you want to "get rich" or do you want to do the right thing?

Hands down, no contest. The rent needs to be paid, though, if ya dig.

because I am a Theravada Buddhist, my livelihood is a source of great consternation, and I have tried to find something that would allow me to do what I love (software engineering) for a person or group who was a worthy cause.
