Is debating Kerry even relevant at this point?
Edited on Tue Jan-11-05 04:06 PM by smartvoter
I keep seeing the Kerry threads/debates and it seems that, with the electors certified, he's a former candidate who might run again in '08. Do we gain anything from debating what he could or should have done at this stage?

1. As a candidate, he's irrelevant
As a Dem Senator who may play a role in holding the Republican's feet to the fire, he is not.

2. A true movement succeeds irrespective of its leaders
I like Kerry. But unless he is willing to get dirty and start truly fighting, he is irrelevant at this point.

4. It's been said by many here, including myself
that what we are fighting for in this forum goes waaaaaaaay beyond Kerry. Is it worthy of debate? Not to me. And IMHO, not at all in this forum. Leave it in GD. It distracts us from getting the work done we need to do. Granted, lots of things distract us in this forum, but right now that is the most divisive debate in here.

5. Kerry was relevant to me as a means to get rid of Bush. Ergo,
he is no longer relevant.

Getting rid of Bush either through a successful impeachment, or preferably through the justice system is paramount.

9. I think that he's still potentially relevant
because if he decided to make a visible protest the MSM will be forced to cover it. That would be great. However, we certainly can't count on that happening.

11. Considering HOW the MSM would cover it
I don't understand how that would be a good thing...

13. I think that the MSM is pretty bad
but not as bad as some of us think. For example, CNN didn't even call Ohio for Bush until Kerry conceded the next day.

If Kerry hadn't conceded, the whole matter would have gotten a lot more attention. True, much of the coverage would have been negative, but the coverage would at least have made more people aware of the problem, and that could have put more pressure on Blackwell to comply with investigation demands.

It still may not be too late. I think election reform and the investigation of this election are more likely to occur the more media attention they get.

12. You're exactly right.
Kerry is old news. Didn't have to be, but it was his choice. Let's start talking Boxer. Maybe Boxer/Obama. Not only is it time for candidates who are something other than old, white men, it's time for candidates with balls!

15. I think folks should research and see Kerry for what he is an elitist part
of those groups like the Council of Foreign Relations, Bildegerger group etc....

If someone belongs to any of these NON Partisan ELITIST groups: the Bildenberger group, Council of Foreign Relations and the Trilateral Commision they are SUSPECT.

Kerry belongs to Council of Foreign Relations
Clinton belongs to all three
The Bushes belong
John Edwards made a speech at the Bildenberger meeting hence his getting the VP slot with Kerry.
Gen Wes Clark belongs to Council of Foreign Relations.

16. I think discussing the Kerry campaign is relevant.
What they did right and what they did wrong to some degree influenced election results. 100% of the voters didn't experience fraud so it's probably worthwhile to analyze campaign strategy in effort to prepare for future contests.

Otherwise, I don't see how discussing his presence or absence at this point in time is particularly relevant to the forum topic.
