18,000 Provisional Votes Await Count in N.M.

By Andy Lenderman

Journal Politics Writer

About 18,000 provisional ballots remain to be counted around New Mexico, an elections official said.

It may be several days before they're processed and still later before they're tallied. And there was still debate Wednesday about whether they will make a difference in the Bush-Kerry race in New Mexico.

I hope they don't just "throw them out" like they did in Florida.

How is this LEGAL, anyhow? Didn't the legislation provide for keeping this paperwork? IS ANYONE MONITORING THEM????

4. in OH provisional ballots are reviewed by both dem & rethugs,
not that that makes me feel particularly safe...but can't say about NM for sure.

5. Gov. Richardson of NM is pushing all ballots to be counted....
He's got our backs on that one. However, NM, if it did give the advantage to Kerry, isn't enough electoral votes to put the election back in Kerry's hands.

This coming week is going to be VERY interesting, given Ralph Nader's recount petitions.

DUers need to really GEAR UP this week, and blast our findings all over the news world, and find every sympathetic ear we can find.

8. Well, we've already geared up a little -- see this
(if you haven't already):

URGENT: VOTE FRAUD? Tell everyone you know -- details
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x1337662

It includes a sample cover letter and a LOT of links from right here at DU with some of the remarkable data, research and analysis that DUers are so famous for. All you have to do is copy and paste it all into an email addressed to 6,000 of your closest friends (and relatives, and enemies, and media, and Congress, and .... whoever else you can think of).

10. Yep...I read it. Just now went back via your link to kickkit.
I've been posting this on a couple of threads....that we need to hop on this starting Monday.

I'm devastated at the Kerry camp. We donated big $$ to the legal fund. As far as I know, they're sitting on their butts...and on the retainer I (and thousands of others) paid them so they could!

That's friggin' extortion!!! Unless, of course, they get to work!!

6. it is illegal
they are supposed to void rejected ballots and count them, not "throw them out."

7. They are also supposed to be put in an envelope
and saved, not thrown out.
