BRAD BLOG: Blackwell Does it Again!
Blackwell Ignores Rule of Law! Twice in Same Letter!
Use of U.S. Great Seal in Fundraising Letter Would Violate Federal Law!
(His Ohio State Law Violation in Letter is Last Week's News)

It appears that Ohio Sec. of State J. Kenneth Blackwell (who served as both the state's Election chief and Co-Chair of the state's Bush/Cheney Re-Elect Committee) may not only have violated Ohio state law by ask for illegal corporate contributions in a recent fundraising letter for his gubernatorial bid, but it appears that he may have broken the federal Rule of Law as well!

According to a U.S. State Department document, Blackwell's use of a facsimile of the Great Seal of the United States in his fundraising letter would seem to be in apparent violation of P.L. 91-651, Title 18 of the U.S. Code!...

3. According to the article
it's a fine of not more than $250 or imprisonment of not more than 6 months, or both.

2. Blackwell must see himself as being on a par with the Chimpster, that
he can do whatever he wants and screw all the laws and rules.

He has got to go, completely get out of public life and any type of government position. In fact, I'd be perfectly willing to help the rest of the tax payers of this country pay for his housing in a 'nice' federal facility for a few years. At least he wouldn't have to worry about the rent payments. And I would do it gladly.

7. BRAD!!! Is the alteration you mentioned on site distinctive???
I am wondering because the letters sent in Ohio prior to the election were on "formal looking" letterhead. If it displayed this same altered version of the seal maybe it could be traced directly to Blackwell.

10. That's something worth investigating. Are any of these floating
around in Ohio to be checked? When I saw the seal in Blackwell's letter I assumed it was the Ohio seal. It would be interesting to see what type of mailing has this same seal and connects Blackwell.

11. I believe Conyers has a copy. I do not even know if it had a seal...
All i know is it was an official looking letter sent to Dems before the election. It was aimed at dissuading them from voting.

8. Blackwell probably doesn't even know the law. And he damn
sure doesn't care. He believes that the administration will back him up. They may or may not. He could possibly be "thrown to the dogs" as a piece of political theater.

9. all these liberal dem lawyers that slap on needless law suits
why isnt he being hit with a law suit, or having charges pressed against him on each and every law he breaks. everyone just talks about them. no wonder these people feel they can break any and all laws

12. Someone needs to check out if Blackwell paid enough postage
for presorted standard mail. If not, a call to the Postal Office of Inspector General may in order.

Look at the stamps in the right hand corner. I understand there is a reduced rate for sending out so many pieces of mail but it is baffling why "postage paid" is stamped on the envelope.
