Another idea for getting our message out
Courtesy of IAMREALITY

"Why not print out one typed page of the most important facts found, and take them with us to every doctor appt, every dentist appt, and place that has magazine racks for reading while waiting, and glue, tape, staple or whatever, (without drawing attention to the act) the page in the middle of the magazines, or the middle of an important article in a magazine?"

Sounds like a good idea to me.

2. Sounds like a tactic out of the Jehovah's Witnesses playbook
No offense, but there are enough tracts floating around out there already.

5. As I said in my post, no offense...
You're not polluting the forum; we're simply discussing the pros and cons of an idea. Nothing personal implied or intended. Keep the ideas coming!

7. No offense taken
I misunderstood your first post.

As far as enough tracts out there...In my opinion, if the message captures the attention of even one receptive person, it is worth it.

Some people can not strike up a conversation, and are not comfortable passing out or posting fliers. This just might appeal to the more covert freedom fighter.

9. You raise a good point...
Besides, I like your idea of the "covert freedom fighter." It's both a bit subversive and a bit dashing. :-) Anyway, something in my gut says the best way to reach people this way would be to get them to smile first. Not through sarcasm or by acridly pointing out hypocrisy, but through a gentle but mischievous poke at the quirks of human nature, whether in a short joke, or a cartoon (imagine a Far Side-style drawing that helps illustrate one of our viewpoints). I guess what turns me off about various religious and political tracts is that they're so deadly serious, and they treat you (the reader) like someone who can't think for themselves.

Anyway, now you've got me thinking....

10. Here's an idea!
Find some sort of a political figure, like, an actual leader, who would say out loud those "facts found" and actually fight for democracy. Perhaps even people like us light some sort of a fire under existing leaders' ass so that they would feel a little more obligated to do the job they claim they're so committed to doing. But, you're probably right, a page in a newspaper, stickers, and post-its would be way better. Hamster's work is never done and makes the pet owner happy.

11. Here's an idea
How about we get members of Congress to contest the election.

That has not happened in over 100 years. Surely that will get the attention of the corporate media whores.

What do you think?

14. I do not worship any politician
I must admit that, on behalf of those individuals that refuse to publicly flog John Kerry and others, I find your description of "ass-licking" as moderately offensive.

But that is fine, drama always draws more attention.

I refuse to wait for John Kerry, or anyone else to solve this problem. He is not the enemy, and his presence on the floor of Congress, Jan 6th would have only served to undermine and belittle the effort. The fact that the event received so little media attention is the heart of the problem.

If lighting fires flicks your bic, that is great. We each have a vital and important role to play.

16. First, I think you mean Conyers and Boxer
Second, Conyers and Boxer and Tubbs-Jones were joined by 29 other reps.

Third, how do you know who wrote how many e-mails to whom? That's quite an assumption.

Fourth, exactly who are you accusing of licking whose ass? I've seen this sort of nasty inference here in less rude form, but yours is over the line and takes the cake for pointless bile-spitting.

Shame on you for hijacking a thread about positive media action for your own mean-spirited fly-by.

17. Um, have you met
Representatives John Conyers and Stephanie Tubbs-Jones and a boatload of other Democratic leaders who got up and challenged the Ohio vote? May I introduce you Senator Barbara Boxer from the great State of California? This is the Reverend Jesse Jackson, and here we have several other actvists such as Michael Moore and David Bonifaz.

The activists are there, we're there and the politicians are starting to arrive. It is not about one politician. It's not about standing up on January 6. That happened. It's in the history books. Your children will learn about it even if the Corporate Media did not cover it. Which, in fact, they did.

This is about you and me and We the People. Whoever you voted for, you should know your vote counted. You should be able to believe in the system. We need to make that happen. No one else. No one will fight this fight for you. Either do it or don't complain about it.

And "hamsters?" What exactly are you talking about anyway?

I also think we can post the flyers with the tear-offs at the bottom with vote fraud website addys on them.

I think we can even go door-to-door and rubberband flyers to doorknobs or put them in mailboxes.

I'm looking for a really good handout. Does anyone have one or some links to one? I know redefeatbush.org has something and so does votersunite.org

I'd like something that has a grabbing headline like: "Congress Investigates Election 2004" "Congress Objects to Certification of Ohio Electors", etc. followed by some good bulleted points (such as exit polls prove Kerry won; reported vote totals statistically impossible in swing states"; Florida programmer testifies he designed "vote switching program" for congressman", etc.) and then links to Conyers report and the best of the election fraud websites.

18. How about something visually dramatic?
Edited on Thu Jan-13-05 03:06 AM by kerstin
I've been trying to engage a highly intelligent social activist friend of mine for some time now on the matter of election fraud. However, what really piqued his interest was a graph dramatically demonstrating the discrepancy between exit poll figures vs. actual vote counts in states with paper trails and exit poll figures vs. actual vote counts in states without paper trails. (By the way, the graph was in color.) It seemed to have almost an epiphany-like effect on him.

Just a thought.

22. I'm afraid I left it with my friend.
But I do know it was from Randi Rhodes web site and dated November 6. There should be some updated ones since the raw exit poll figures came out and I'll try to hunt those up and get back with y'all with the links.

And the more methods we use of getting the word out, the more likely it is to reach people from all walks of life.

I plan to order some of the Deception Dollars to slip into mags and such. I think that will really catch someone's eye.

24. Someone posted about this webpage last summer:
http://www.whatareyouvotingfor.com/cover.html

It's called "what are you voting for" and lays out the importance of voting, and why this election is so important. It's in the style of a comicbook, and is very thorough and rather enjoyable.

Take a look at it, just for a suggestion of "style." I would think this kind of thing would be very appealing in a waiting-room.

25. make a sign and show up
this is the essence of 51capitalmarch and i agree that most people don't have a clue to the info that we have access to i'm working on flyer to hand out myself and keep with me a person holding a sign will draw attention and raise curiosity.
to me this education of the uninformed is our challenge . anything any individual can do is important. we must create a network of concerned voters to get current info to
with the 12/12 rallies in 40 states we began the process.1/6 was epiphany in dc
we all felt it. we must continue in our local areas to educate .anything anyone does
is important and we must empower the individual to want to make a difference.
there is no right or wrong in this march we are in.only those who do something.
i want people to see www.chuckherrin.com ,
i see this as an individualistic movement, and i will continue to show up and
educate others and direct them to websites

26. Sounds like a plan to me, seito
I'd also recommend taking them to every local college campus for posting on the many bulletin boards each one is certain to have available. If unable to get to a campus, look up the snail mail address of the College Democrats group at the school and send it that way. Email them, too, especially about the recent efforts to staff local draft boards.
