Thinking back on the 6th, it is interesting that...
even though Democratic Senators and Reps deliberately and methodically claimed they were not trying to overturn the election but bring some scrutiny to problems that need to be fixed, virtually every Republican response was to claim it was a dark day for democracy and slam the Dems while refusing to address with specificity any of the important issues that were raised.

In other words, their response, which clearly was an orchestrated party line, was to go nuclear. Just like Blackwell and the systemic recount rule breaking in Ohio, their behavior in these election matters is as questionable as the problems with the vote itself.

1. I think it's more than interesting -- it's telling. They know that
Ohio is just the tip of the iceberg. If it every gets totally unearthed, and truth comes to light, they are in deep dudu! What you saw was fear turned into hate and venomous attacks by a crew that knew we were getting close to exposing them for what they are: lying, cheating, stealing crooks who will do anything to stay in power.

3. If the press ever really goes after this, it will be actions like these
that make them take a harder look.

2. Also interesting to analyze the Dems speeches: "We're not
contesting that Bush won. We're just saying the election that put him in office was fraudulent!"

4. It is interesting. Like they wanted to bring the earth-movers in
over this thing.

A little ham-handed, and it's in the Congressional Record, and on video.

Questionable behavior.

5. On January 5, DU was abuzz
wondering if a Senator (how many Senators) would stand up, and when the coverage started on C-Span, I was actually surprised by the way everything played out. It was ALL so orchestrated, so scripted. When were all of those speeches written?

6. By the morning of the 6th, everyone in Congress probably knew it was going
to happen. They had a few hours to prepare their responses.

What I think is telling about the Repub response is that it suggests they expected to be attacking Dem claims that Kerry won when they wrote their speeches...and thus they looked like the nasty little shitters they are when they started spitting and foaming about something that hadn't even been said.

7. I agree.
The Repub's speeches didn't seem relevant. They were speechifying, not responding.

15. Here's the beautiful irony.
The Republican speeches actually were relevant. The contest was about electoral results. It was the Democrats who were "off-topic" by speaking about election reform instead of the Ohio results. Delicious, isn't it? *gleeful chuckle*

11. love your analysis.... and it's not just a betty bias.
i kept thinking... don't these fucking people read?? but, so many people want to make it a sore loser story. it works for the repugs, so they stick to it. it works for the news because then it's gossipy and kind of interesting to them. it's sad how small minded that is.

16. My guess is the late evening hours of January 5 so they had
overnight to write and prepare delivery.

9. True -
how can we trust them? when the integrity is so shot?
and politics takes over. Some of them probably have integrity deep down inside, just that the political world is cruel and it seems it can really possess one so that you are no longer what you started out to be.

17. I agree. I wish more people had been watching to see
how ridiculous they looked as they were freaking out in response to a call for transparent and verifiable elections. It makes them look awfully damn guilty.

with primitives - people with the level of emotional development of an Eileen Wuornos, i.e that of 2-3 year-olds. I want! I want! I want!
