The Associated Press

SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - The New Mexico secretary of state Wednesday gave the green light to county clerks to clear November election data from voting machines - despite a pending dispute over the accuracy of presidential race results.

Secretary of State Rebecca Vigil-Giron sent a memo telling clerks they have three days to notify a judge and political party officials in their respective counties if they plan to clear the machines and reprogram them for school elections Feb. 1.

5. Thinking out loud
Couldn't a civil class action lawsuit be filed over the voting irregularities, and specifically voter suppression, in states like NM and Ohio? Couldn't the voting machines be used as evidence in a trial?

12. Get complete copies of hard drives?
It's not technically difficult to get exact copies (drive images) made from the machines. Done properly this would preserve the data for investigation while allowing the release of the machines for other uses. A proper forensic audit would take quite some time; if you had copies you perhaps could circumvent the argument that the machines need to ready for other elections and buy time for a careful investigation. The political and physical logistics are much more formidable than the technical challenge. If there's nothing to hide who would argue against being able to confirm that?

6. I've been trying to tell people! The Dem party is INFILTRATED!
Just like LePore in Florida, Sec. of State Cathy Cox in Georgia, and N.C. Dem Party Chairman, Barbara Allen: There are more repukes in the Democratic Party, nationally, than there are Dems!!

Democrats have to catch up to 25 years of repukes infiltrating our party with their own. The last county I lived in in N.C., the Dem County Chair was a repuke. So was the Elections Supervisor!

It's systemic, and grassroots activists HAVE TO take over county Dem Parties in every state, and move the house cleaning all the way up the ladder.

Activists are going to have to start working REALLY hard at the Primary Election level for every race.

:kick::kick::kick:

10. I have been thinking about that lately...
In Ohio, the Boards of Election each have 2 Repubs and 2 "Democrats". I wonder if these are REAL Democrats, or merely registered as such. All the Board people serve at Balckwell's approval. Hmmmm....

7. Are there any voter-verified paper ballots in these machines?
If not, the people of the state need to blast their legislature and Gov. Bill Richardson, to get the law on the books by 2006 to do this, and to randomly audit them!

Here's a sample letter you can use, but you'll have to edit it a bit:

Here's one for the Congress Repubs who blocked Verified Voting Legislation 5 times in the last 2 years and refused to support Conyers' investigation:

TODAY (January 13, 2005)

NM State Canvassing Board Meets

5PM * Governors Conference Room

State Capitol

We will be asking the State Canvassing Board to approve our request for a recount of the 10% priority precincts in the state.

The Attorney General and Secretary of State yesterday put out a memo to county clerks that they could begin clearing the voting machines.

We are filing a Temporary Restraining Order to prevent the machines from being cleared.

Call your County Clerk and urge them to maintain the integrity of the machines for the recount.

Your attendance at this important meeting is critical !!!
