Doris Granny D Haddock: Our Velvet Revolution
"A growing number of Americans are beginning to identify with the pro-democracy activists whose courage opened much of the world to freedom in the final decades of the 20th Century.

<snip>

When people stand united with certain courage, they get their way. That fact is an axiom in the geometry of world history.

When you've got "Granny D" doing the writing the best thing to do is provide a couple of quotes and get out of the way.

At nearly 95, she's at the front, inspiring and leading in ways that very few of those we seem to elect have ever achieved. That says more about us and our failed responsibility to each other and our Constitution than anything else.

The leaders are amongest us, let's support them -- Congressman Conyers and Senator Boxer being two who deserve vast support.

Let's stop blaming others; let's suck it up and start demanding more of each of ourselves.

Peace.

3. She, evidently, is going to participate in some of the 'counter...
...inauguration' events.

Just listen to the symphony of reason, ethics and compassion in her words:

"We resist what we must and what we can, but our victory is not in defense, but in a cultural offensive made irresistible by the power of love and courage, pulling our people together, and our own lives together, over time.

We have tried this before in America. Things got in our way: drugs, wars, fears. We became parents. We became distracted. It is now time to get it right."

Yes, we will in_DEED prevail, if we listen to our hearts and do what we each know must be done.

Peace.

6. Thanks Gram. And you too, UL
She captured so much in this essay.

"But the small, everyday injustices of a population must flow somewhere; indeed, they gather into great rivers that flow through capitols and pentagons, where the selfish energies combine and become the bombs and machine-gun roar and rattle of our bloody agents in the world. Our vote every four years is a weak ceremony of little importance compared to how we live our personal lives, which empowers either good or evil in the world." - Granny D.
