Nominate Barbara Boxer for the 2005 Jefferson Awards nominations

Click on the National Nomination Form and nominate Barbara Boxer for the

• U.S. Senator John Heinz Award for Greatest Public Service by an Elected or Appointed Official

I wish they had more than one award per year to give away because it wasn't just Barbara Boxer who contested the 2004 Ohio election. I really think Stephanie Tubbs-Jones, John Conyers, etc. all deserve one.

I opt for Barbara Boxer by the mere fact that she stood ALONE amongst her colleagues and, to me, that should raise the bar for all the senators to act for fair elections.

Her Washington office info:
112 Hart Senate Office Building
Washington, D.C. 20510
(202) 224-3553

1. Nomination asks for Name, address, email, telephone...
Can you post Boxers information for us? I would be honored to nominate her, but need all that info first.

2. If you read the small print,
it says that you do not need all that info. if it is a well-known person. Just the nominee's name and a few words about why you nominate.

I nominated BOTH Boxer and Conyers, separately.

I had a bit of trouble getting it to accept my phone#. Turns out it wants it with just numbers, no parentheses, no dashes.

4. Thanks, my eyes are not as good as they used to be
small print gets me every time. When age starts catching up to you the eyes are the first to tell you!

3. I nominated John Conyers. He was worked the past 35 years
for the underdog and for those least likely to have a voice. I have to admit I was totally appalled to see Dick Cheney as a past recipient. Sadly, it appears to be a mere mouthpiece of the current administration.

7. This is a strategic thing for me. I'm idealistic, trying to be pragmatic
Past recipients aren't on my imuch-admired list either.

This Jefferson Award is media driven. What does nominating Boxer do? It gets the media attention, which has been compliant though lack of coverage over the issue of election fraud and disenfranchisement. The media are the sponsors - they put money into this thing and want attention to these awards. It behooves them not to. They way I see it, if fate hands you a much needed monkey wrench and it doesn't hurt anybody, throw it. Save Conyers and Tubbs-Jones for the Congressional Medal of Freedom (yeah, I know that's been dumbed down too) which is much more appropriate.

Like I said, though, I respect your decision whatever it may be.

Peace

9. I nominated Conyers - I appreciate Sen. Boxer but Conyers is the one who..
spearheaded this movement for us in the government. His leadership was an inspiration to me. He has become a hero of mine. I couldn't in good conscious nominate anyone else. I am very grateful to Sen. Boxer for standing up but Conyers stood up without anyone asking him. He did it because it was right. Boxer has a long way to go if she wants this sort of endorsement from me. The confirmation of Rice is a real good start. Let's see what she does with this. Maybe the Jefferson Award in 2005 for Boxer?

11. Nominated, my letter.
Step 4 : Complete the sentence: This individual is nominated for a national Jefferson Award for Public Service because...

...she stood up and challenged the most egregious example of election fraud in the past 50 years by challenging the Ohio electors. The list of problems in Ohio is to extensive to review. Any one who takes the time to do so will understand that there was a pre planned effort to suppress votes in urban areas and a clear set of events that indicate electoral fraud (votes exceeding voters in many areas; turn out percentages in the low teens in some black areas, etc.)

Despite the problems chronicled in the Conyers Report and elsewhere, Boxer was the ONLY senator to stand up and be counted.

12. Someone on the Massachusettes forum had a good idea
Go to the contact page and ask for special group award for ALL the congresspeople who objected. Duh. Why didn't I think of that.

13. I also voted for Conyers
he bravely stood up before there was any support regarding election fraud (besides Arnebeck who is not an elected official).
