5. I'm flying up from Miami tomorrow evening and will be there!
Where is everyone going to be on Thursday? My plan is to meet up with a friend and show up, at least initially, at 4th and Pennsylvania. But, if anyone has a better suggestion of where we can be part of the largest gatherings, by all means send them over!

Maybe we can figure out a way to identify each other somehow in the crowd. Any ideas? Blue paperclips perhaps?

Anyone else attending the PDA conference during the weekend?

10. THE ANSWER People are saying to be in place by 9:00 am, or
you may not be able to get into the armed camp around Pennsylvanis Ave. Be sure to check the counter-inaugural site for the access points. Not very many of them.

i'm actually still unsure, ha sounds like last time, huh? i'm still working on whatever the cheapest ride will be, if anyone from Philly or NJ area is going and wants company and someone to help with gas/tolls, i am willing. i do already have a place to stay, that much i do know! i do drive and have a car, but it's kind of a POS and i am afraid to risk it breaking down on the way there or home.

28. Do you have tickets?
From what I have heard you won't be able to get even remotely close to the parade route without a ticket. Security is going to include military troops, and will be higher than that of any inauguration. (Sounds like Bush's political campaign all over again.)

The man knows that he is disliked and that there is likely to be trouble. I guess you all didn't plan quietly enough.

33. DC Street Nav info.
Street navigation in DC is easy. The city is divided into quadrants: NW, NE, SW, SE. The point of origin is the Capitol building.

North Capitol St. and S. Capitol St. bisect the city's Y axis.
Constitution Ave bisects the city to the West and E Capitol St, to the east.

Numbered streets run north-south and are the reference for the block numbers of letter streets and state streets (actually Avenues). i.e. 1600 Pennsylvania Ave, (The White House) is between 16th and 17th st on Pennsylvania Ave.

Letter streets run east-west and demark the block numbers for number streets, except oddly, there is no J street. Once the alphabet is exhausted, then one syllable words are used in alphabetic order, followed by two syllable words, etc.

State streets run diagonally through the city, intersections of state streets are circles. These were intended for gun emplacements to defend the Capitol. They have never been used as such, even when the British invaded in the war of 1812 and burned the White House and the Capitol building.

This link: http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?ovi=1&zoom=8&mapdata=IgGhLx%2bMihB05TR0YC2P%2b6Osq%2fON94S3Bj4CISKv4EoQPYgvAERRkIbyqoIoXhdkGajQvKwwSb%2b2z%2bl0xjR6roLPHlTN2MDkEzaEUTO2M1wKuy%2bOS%2fau%2fMdyxkkp2G2N93AGgp9VXUiSRbvzGpyMsYfDOOwbOROXCSK%2f46feic%2b3D1TyzldzulHqAKwP%2f8mPFS%2fq52ANMDvrVBl5%2b8gbHGfOU18Pvzz2DU%2fo%2fiJ%2fXGEUsSyzjON0rJ0RDkfvU846hzmYnaxgGG3c6xCR34noBSScKNuTHhT%2feYFGGlJreOKyarI3qKywkTOa%2bmI7pLd7pUtiIDX637pZmM%2fCKOA32Gx4AIo%2f%2f%2bdmMaplufTLsEfuanYSav1VZL9eInZjjmrtawdk5JGRBTH9%2bvD6d6PjHXAv1AGyNLZH
gets you a close up of the parade route down Pennsylvania Ave. (not well marked, it is the diagonal between the White House and the Capitol. The 'Interstate' Highway 395 is in a tunnel on this map and not visible from the ground.

The Metro website is http://www.wmata.com/
