4. No, please, let it stop
DC drivers become babbling idiots at the first sign of snow.

6. What do you mean, "become"?
They are babbling idiots, 24/7 all year round.

2. Would it be too petty of me to hope for blizzard conditions....
starting tonight and going on as long as there is any inaugural 'festivities'? On second thought, petty or not, that is my wish!

3. Just Remember, DC is Special
Drivers panic and sometimes leave their cars stranded in the road if it starts snowing. I am not making this up. Workers bolt at the first flake and cause mid-day traffic jams. And I remember seeing a car stranded on one of those little triangular islands next to entrance ramps, all four wheels off the ground, the driver gunning the motor and looking around helplessly. Be extra careful.

9. LOL, sad but true...
Those of us who can deal with snow have to wait on those who can't.

I have seen cars abandoned in center traffic lanes on interstate highways.

I stick to the back roads when it snows.

12. No Faye, not right now.
We had a good inch in my neck of the woods this AM. The snow has stopped (for now) and the roads are wet and slushy but not too bad.

The forecast is for off and on snow showers through Friday. As long as it doesn't dump, it should be fine. I haven't looked at the map, but this pattern seems to be either a clipper pattern or lake-effect.

15. I went to grad school in D. C. -- this is TRUE about D.C drivers & snow!
They drive like idiots, even when there is only 1"... either creep along in sheer white-knuckled terror, or they fly like the wind and end up careening into.... well whatever they can hit.

Also, no real snow removal equipment in D.C. They have some, but not like what we have "up north" (I'm from Pittsburgh originally!)
