This is historic and amazing!
I see the pictures of brave protesters on the streets of DC...

I see somber faces of police officers utterly disgusted of having to arrest people talking freely...in the USA!

I see the world united against the criminals...

I SEE THEIR CROWD THIN AND DOWN, UNHAPPY AND SCARED...

I learned that CNN has ceased to lie even for 2 minutes!

The future is around the corner!

Let's work harder, guys...

I swore I wouldn't watch, but I'm glad I broke down and watched. I want to send a big thank you to the tens of thousands who showed up and dominated the crowds with booing, signs, and orange clothing. I feel so much better now.

5. Movements develop gradually, but I think this one is gathering steam.
During the Vietnam years, the protests were small and scattered at first; nobody paid much attention except to dismiss us as hippies and communists. It took a good four years to get to the point where the protests were really massive. Give it time and keep working; it will happen.

9. We have a headstart on the Vietnam protests
There was an anti-war movement regarding Iraq before we fired the first shot.

The protests of the Vietnam war didn't happen until we were up to our eyeballs in dead GI's.

OTOH, we had a relatively honest broadcast media working during those days, so the protests did get fair coverage.

Edited on Thu Jan-20-05 03:57 PM by meganmonkey
protestors. That was the 'low' estimate (police/media)/ The high estimate (organizers) was 600,000, i think. (on edit: of course, virtually no press coverage in the amerikkkan media)

Not too shabby for a war that hadn't even started yet!
And I think the momentum is picking up again, with the 2nd anniversary coming up in a few months...

Things look a little more desperate at the moment as if the disbelief is finally beginning to fade. This happened with Nixon too. We are in for a rough time but I think (and hope) Bush** will have it much worse in the end.

14. As it gets worse
for us it will gradually begin to shift. Once that happens, if things have not gone too far, we will win. I can't see it any other way, it is not going to get better if left to Bush**. We have to push it. Without each other we would have no hope.

Edited on Thu Jan-20-05 06:19 PM by bush_is_wacko
protests! Not even during the Vietnam era. I hope someone shows him the number of Bush haters the next time he suggests a tyrant needs to be taken down. It is just not possible THIS man received enough votes to win this election or the last. He is hated in every corner of the world.

these protesters looked pretty damn massive to me. Add to the ones in DC all the nationwide and worldwide protests they are probably way more massive than anything that ever occurred in Vietnam.

Bush's economic policies kept many away that would have otherwise been there. I know I would have if I could have afforded the trip!

19. I was very heartened watching ABC! They kept the noise of the protest
up loud, unlike on MSNBC. Jennings, George Will and others commented on how "unworthy" it looked to have a military escort of such strength.

I felt proud, showing the rest of the world that we are NOT happy with this president. That came across quite clearly on ABC!

21. ABC seemed obsessed with covering the protestors....mentioned
them constantly. I got to see the fire that was started near the Willard Hotel and the eggs that were thrown at policemen since the protesters were fenced off and couldn't throw eggs at the limo this time. Jennings was very respectful about the right to protest. Maybe the media will wake up.

35. ABC kept showing the signs beyond the limo...
seemed like thousands of them . One that read "Bushit" could clearly be seen beyond the limosine, and the two men dreesed in orange, with their backs turned to Bush, holding "Liar" signs. They held that image for quite a while. (I suspect you will be seeing that one in the print media).
Of course, having two well-known Conservatives trashing the parade was icing on the cake!
Not a bad day !

25. Do go read the letters we homebodies at DU blasted to 100's of media...
... (through MEDIA BLASTER) early this morning. We're patting ourselves on the back just a few times. Who knows? Maybe we made a difference. One of the letters pointed out that Bush is boring, and protesters are a lot more interesting--if they were wondering why their ratings were slipping.

AND YOU CAN STILL BLAST THE MEDIA FOR FRIDAY AND WEEKEND COVERAGE!

28. The dominoes are falling
Notice how the MSM has paid so much attention to the large number of protesters and how they outnumber the supporters.

Last night they gave some coverage of the Ohio irregularities but still said the idea of the election being stolen was a "conspiracy theory." They notice how unpopular * is and how much people don't approve of his war or the job he's doing.

I think they're actually starting to wake up. The pendulum is swaying back. Slowly, but it IS happening.

We are being heard!

38. Actually, I think our elected leaders are being heard. Holding up
confirmation hearings and asking tough questions and getting Republicans to ask the SAME questions is helping our cause immensely! I do agree that we are the power behind that movement. I t appears to me that if we keep this up. Rummy is a goner for sure and * and Cheney may follow closely behind. I actually think the case against * and Cheney has more to do with the unauthorized escalation to war over non-existent weapons that over 4 agencies had completely debunked before * even made the case to the American people. I also think the decline of the dollar and rise of the Euro will lead to investigations about this administration.
