"Ownership Society" = "Inheritance Society"
When The Chimp talks about an "ownership society," what he's really proposing is an "inheritance society." He wants to create private Social Security accounts that can be passed on to one's heirs, as opposed to a communal system in which one generation helps provide for another. I'm not against private property, but there was a reason the inheritance (no, no, no, it's NOT THE DEATH) tax was created: to encourage WORK and to keep wealth from accumulating in the hands of a few. It totally figures that this guy -- who never had any success in business or politics without family influence and resources -- would want to ensure that he and his fat cat friends can continue to just pass their lives on to their kids. Bar and Jen will never have to get their manicured hands dirty doing anything like what I and many of you have had to do to get by ...

1. I think more simply
He means that there will be an "owner" class and an "owned" class.

3. Or "you can own only what you have now" while
"I'm get to keep owning everything I've currently got" = END OF UPWARD MOBILITY.

6. no, you won't even get to keep most of what you have
you'll get to spend more of your money on food and fuel and health care. They'll let you keep just enough get by, but no more, and they'll encourage you to borrow. I need not add that your wages will remain the same, even as the cost of living skyrockets.

4. They will own us.
I don't think the 13th amendment will be repealed, but I have images of these elite few families controlling everything. I have images of life in the US being as it was before the days of collective bargaining. We will have to buy everything on credit and will never own anything. The families who are the Ownership Class will be providing the credit which will make them even richer off the interest.

7. that sort of crap flies in the face of 'CHRIST'ian
values-
How can he have his cake and eat it too????

"ownership society" is a society of materialism and greed, not 'morality' and 'compassion'-

what a f#Sking hypocrite-
what a gullible populace we are- or being duped into 'believing' we are-

BUY BUY BUY - more, more, more
the love of money is the root of all evil- *'s planted deep

8. I don't think "inheritance society" is strong enough
People like to inherit things. We need something that really hits home regarding being born into wealth - something that hits at the elitist label they're so fond of accusing liberals of.

They are proposing a bourgeoisie society.

Tying it to his kids for an example is good. People like Bush can afford to pay in millions, so his kids will never have to work. The middle class and poor will fall further behind.

It's another way for them to redistribute the wealth to the wealthy, just like their tax cuts for the rich.
