Why doesn't Bush look happy? |
|
Isn't this his big day? Isn't this the culmination of his overwhelming "win," the celebration of his "mandate"?
I have the t.v. on CSPAN with the sound down so that I can catch it on tape if something unexpected happens. Every once in a while I glance up and see Chimpy standing there in his bullet-proof box looking kinda tight-lipped and worried with a fake half-smile glued on his stupid mug.
Whatcha worried about Chimpy?

The boos were nearly blowing out C-SPan's microphones. I heard almost no cheering, just lots and lots of antiwar chants and boos.

If he weren't so evil I would almost feel sorry for him, it's gotta suck to see so many people jeering at you and disliking you so much. But he deserves it - and I hope on some level his heart aches from it. If he has a heart. So sad, Bush**, ya big chump.

2/3 of the world hates his guts. He can't even find a friendly audience with the Secret Service screening people for him. That should pretty much explain it for ya.
Can you imagine how it would feel to wake up every day knowing that many people would rather piss on you as look at you ? Knowing that you have violated so many laws, codes of conduct, and had so many shady deals, that at some point there's going to be no place left to hide from them ?
I wouldn't want to wake up to all of that insecurity and fear every day, thanks ... I'd rather be a plain ole' honest clear-conscienced peon.

Can you imagine what WE would have looked like had we gotten our day like we should have? There would have been no stony, resigned looks or halfhearted cocktail-glove clapping. It would have been an actual PAR-TAY! People would have been crying in the streets for joy.
It seems their "victory" seems rather hollow to them.

Then the mindless morons will stop protecting him, unless we have another 'nobody could imagine' terrorist attack.

Did anyone see B*sh, Cheney and the wives reviewing the troops on the steps of the capitol? Awkward, uncomfortable, bleak, all alone on the cold expanse, as the soldiers passed. All saluting, but some pointedly , it seemed, NOT turning their faces in his direction as they marched by. Cheney's shoulders hunched, B*sh's suit ill-fitting. Lumpy, tiny little figurines... Did you hear the angry anguished wailing of the crowd as the motorcade battallions made their way down Pennsylvania Avenue? The reverberation must have been deafening. No wonder he looked unhappy. He actually looked very scared to me before the parade. Lethargic, subdued, almost --not there---! The rest of the time he had on that pissy face, like during the first debate.

Which was odd, because it was a really nice suit (that's the ONLY thing he has going for him, some really good, expensive tailors). I think this lends credence to the rumor going around that he has some kind of heart monitoring device that hangs over his shoulder.
I think he's unwell. Dare I say I actually had a brief moment of pity for him? VERY brief, mind you.

It's because those darn Iraqi insurgents are preventing him from killing more, in more places, you know, globally.
Bush likes killing, it feeds his self-esteem. After all, its one thing that he appears to be fairly good at.
We can't judge Bush's expressions by our standards. I liken him to Malcolm McDowell in A Clockwork Orange, when he fantasizes that he is the Roman Soldier.
