4,500,000 More Signatures Needed To Impeach B*sh.
Edited on Thu Jan-20-05 09:12 PM by Karenca

Ramsey Clarke, the former Attorney General of the United States, having served under President Lyndon B. Johnson, is the leader of the 'Vote To Impeach B*sh' movement. This group has collected 500,000 signatures, and needs a total of 5,000,000 signatures in order to present the case of impeachment to Congress.

Please sign the petition and forward it to all your Dem friends! Thanks everyone. :))

The ImpeachBush Referendum

I want my representative in the U.S. House of Representatives to vote to impeach President George W. Bush, Vice President Richard B. Cheney, Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld, and Attorney General John D. Ashcroft for high crimes and misdemeanors, and to have the case prosecuted and tried in the U.S. Senate.

It keeps going to the page where they sell things, and it says

which I do. Then I click the submit button, and my mouse turns to the hourglass, but the screen never changes, and there is no confirmation. Anyone?

can make Congress start impeachment proceedings especially cyber signatures which can be easily forged. They can submit 20 million "signatures" and the Republican Congress would do nothing.

93. My friend has been back for about a month
and told me last week that he wishes he was still there. He enjoyed his time there and wanted to go back.

He wasn't "gotten to" by anyone. I believe that he enjoys putting to use the things he practices and he enjoys the camaraderie with his buddies.

My opinion - I haven't analyzed him about it.

<<<he wishes he was still there.>>> Poor guy..

And why would that be?
Did you ever ask him how he feels about the invasion of Iraq
knowing now that B*sh lied about WMD's? If, so, what are his reasons for still wanting to be in a country that was invaded illegally by a Pres. who lied and sent our children to their deaths in the name of G-d? (instead of the truth...'In the Name of OIL").

I feel so sorry for our troops, and I feel sorry for your friend, that he had to be there and witness his comrades perish for no other reason than to line the pockets of the NeoCons.

I'm guessing he wasn't on the front lines, then? What branch was/is he in? What's his rank? I'm asking because it seems that there are probably some military jobs that are far easier to enjoy than others. I certainly understand having pride in one's duties and sense of service, but, I have also heard from military personnel that I know that most soldiers feel the war is being grossly mishandled despite them having a sense of pride in serving their country. Is there any chance your friend will get called back in? There has been a lot of that going on lately.

Re: Being "gotten to":

My co-worker's son was over there earlier in the year, and he sent her an email stating that the troops were lacking in provisions and feeling a little nervous that things were not going as well as they should be.

The following morning, his commanding officer who knew about the email somehow, despite the soldier never having told him, pulled him aside and told him in no uncertain terms that he'd better not hear another word about him or anyone else sending word back to America that there are problems with a lack of supplies, or poor planning. This was before the Rumsfeld interview, and the kid, who is only 19, was scared shitless. Upon his return, he said that a lot of other soldiers had gotten the same treatment.

I am glad to hear this wasn't the case with your friend.

he told her that they like it over there and are happy to be there. This really conflicts with all the other stories about the soldiers being furious about Bush's gross mishandling of the war, and the troops having no armor and what not.

I hope her friend isn't under duress and afraid to say what's really going on.

49. Get your facts sttraight...Online petitions stopped Clinton's impeachment:

http://64.233.161.104/search?q=cache:Ft2YzlVqChAJ:www.cpa.org.au/garchive/938clint.htm+impeach+signatures+congress+petition&hl=en&ie=UTF-8

Joan Blades, founder of the Internet petition campaign, "Censure & Moveon",
told the People's Weekly World, newspaper of the Communist Party of
the USA, that minutes after the House approved two articles of impeachment,
Censure & Moveon launched a "We Will Remember" on-line pledge drive that so
far has collected $10 million in pledges.

Each pledge is a promise to donate, as an individual, to candidates that
run against House and Senate incumbents who voted for Clinton's removal
from office.

Censure & Moveon used the Internet to mobilise more than four million
voters in last November's election. They delivered 450,000 e-mail
"signatures" urging Congress to halt impeachment of the President and
censure him instead.

The group also mobilised 200,000 anti-impeachment telephone calls to
lawmakers during the House impeachment debate. Trade unions organised so
many members to phone their Congressmen that the Congressional phone system
collapsed under the strain.

73. You get your facts right.
The CONSTITUTION of the United States, specifies how Impeachment happens. The Constitution, as a may know, has amendments and stuff in it. The Constitution upholds freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom to own guns, etc.

Do you think anyone, anywhere, anytime will ever say: "Lets get some signatures on a petition and have our constitutional right to free speech rescinded?" Of course not.

Well, there are many articles and clauses in the constitution that are just as sacrosanct, if not prominent. No serious person will ever say: "Lets get some signatures on a petition and change the impeachment process dictated in the constitution"

91. Yes but so many rethugs seem to find the Constitution
"quaint" or something, and they're always trying to change it or ignore it. It certainly can't hurt anything to sign a petition, and let them know there are a lot of people who would like to see * impeached, now, would it?

89. Right.....Sorry, but it would have taken 12 Senate Dems
and all Repubs voting for conviction for that to have happened. After the House vote (only 4 Dems voting for impeachment) the only question was would and Senate Dem join the Republicans. None did. There was no serious chance of conviction after the impeachment.

66. "In order to present the case of impeachment to Congress"?
What would five million, or even twenty million signatures have to do with that? Any Congressman can "present the case," and have it read into the Record.

This petition is so vague as to be meaningless beyond "I hate the Bush Administration." Where are the charges? Any recipient of the petition is bound to ask, "Why couldn't these millions of people agree on anything specific?"

I would.

When only 32 Congressmen could scrape together the courage to challenge the election, we're going to have to write the articles of impeachment for them and gather *one hundred* million signatures. Until then, they'll continue to pretend not to know what we're angry about.

Articles of Impeachment

of

President George W. Bush

and

Vice President Richard B. Cheney,
Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld, and
Attorney General John David Ashcroft

The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from
Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and
Misdemeanors. - - ARTICLE II, SECTION 4 OF THE CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

President George W. Bush, Vice President Richard B. Cheney, Secretary of Defense Donald H.
Rumsfeld, and Attorney General John David Ashcroft have committed violations and
subversions of the Constitution of the United States of America in an attempt to carry out with
impunity crimes against peace and humanity and war crimes and deprivations of the civil rights
of the people of the United States and other nations, by assuming powers of an imperial
executive unaccountable to law and usurping powers of the Congress, the Judiciary and those
reserved to the people of the United States, by the following acts:

1) Seizing power to wage wars of aggression in defiance of the U.S. Constitution, the U.N. Charter and the rule of law;
carrying out a massive assault on and occupation of Iraq, a country that was not threatening the United States, resulting
in the death and maiming of tens of thousands of Iraqis, and hundreds of U.S. G.I.s.

2) Lying to the people of the U.S., to Congress, and to the U.N., providing false and deceptive rationales for war.

3) Authorizing, ordering and condoning direct attacks on civilians, civilian facilities and
locations where civilian casualties were unavoidable.

4) Threatening the independence and sovereignty of Iraq by belligerently changing its
government by force and assaulting Iraq in a war of aggression.

4) Authorizing, ordering and condoning assassinations, summary executions, kidnappings, secret
and other illegal detentions of individuals, torture and physical and psychological coercion of
prisoners to obtain false statements concerning acts and intentions of governments and
individuals and violating within the United States, and by authorizing U.S. forces and agents
elsewhere, the rights of individuals under the First, Fourth, Fifth, Sixth and Eighth Amendments
to the Constitution of the United States, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and the
International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.

5) Making, ordering and condoning false statements and propaganda about the conduct of foreign
governments and individuals and acts by U.S. government personnel; manipulating the media
and foreign governments with false information; concealing information vital to public
discussion and informed judgment concerning acts, intentions and possession, or efforts to obtain
weapons of mass destruction in order to falsely create a climate of fear and destroy opposition to
U.S. wars of aggression and first strike attacks.

6) Violations and subversions of the Charter of the United Nations and international law, both a
part of the "Supreme Law of the land" under Article VI, paragraph 2, of the Constitution, in an
attempt to commit with impunity crimes against peace and humanity and war crimes in wars and
threats of aggression against Afghanistan, Iraq and others and usurping powers of the United
Nations and the peoples of its nations by bribery, coercion and other corrupt acts and by rejecting
treaties, committing treaty violations, and frustrating compliance with treaties in order to destroy
any means by which international law and institutions can prevent, affect, or adjudicate the
exercise of U.S. military and economic power against the international community.

7) Acting to strip United States citizens of their constitutional and human rights, ordering
indefinite detention of citizens, without access to counsel, without charge, and without
opportunity to appear before a civil judicial officer to challenge the detention, based solely on the
discretionary designation by the Executive of a citizen as an "enemy combatant."

8) Ordering indefinite detention of non-citizens in the United States and elsewhere, and without
charge, at the discretionary designation of the Attorney General or the Secretary of Defense.

9) Ordering and authorizing the Attorney General to override judicial orders of release of
detainees under INS jurisdiction, even where the judicial officer after full hearing determines a
detainee is wrongfully held by the government.

10) Authorizing secret military tribunals and summary execution of persons who are not citizens
who are designated solely at the discretion of the Executive who acts as indicting official,
prosecutor and as the only avenue of appellate relief.

11) Refusing to provide public disclosure of the identities and locations of persons who have
been arrested, detained and imprisoned by the U.S. government in the United States, including in
response to Congressional inquiry.

12) Use of secret arrests of persons within the United States and elsewhere and denial of the right
to public trials.

13) Authorizing the monitoring of confidential attorney-client privileged communications by the
government, even in the absence of a court order and even where an incarcerated person has not
been charged with a crime.

14) Ordering and authorizing the seizure of assets of persons in the United States, prior to
hearing or trial, for lawful or innocent association with any entity that at the discretionary
designation of the Executive has been deemed "terrorist."

15) Institutionalization of racial and religious profiling and authorization of domestic spying by
federal law enforcement on persons based on their engagement in noncriminal religious and
political activity.

16) Refusal to provide information and records necessary and appropriate for the constitutional
right of legislative oversight of executive functions.

17) Rejecting treaties protective of peace and human rights and abrogation of the obligations of
the United States under, and withdrawal from, international treaties and obligations without
consent of the legislative branch, and including termination of the ABM treaty between the
United States and Russia, and rescission of the authorizing signature from the Treaty of Rome
which served as the basis for the International Criminal Court.

75. George W. Bush, will you please go now!
I had an idea, but I can't start my own thread, so I want to bounce it off you guys. (I posted this in a different thread because I didn't see this one first)

********************************

From an author's study of Dr. Seuss (link: http://www.anapsid.org/aboutmk/seuss.html )

Ted wrote another book on a dare, one that was published not by a book publisher but in Art Buckwald's column. Buchwald sent Ted a copy of his book, I Never Danced At The White House, and dared him to write a political book. Ted grabbed a copy of Marvin K. Mooney, Will You Please Go Now! and, knowing the fireworks were already going off at Random House, Ted told Buchwald to go ahead and run it anyway. On August 8, 1974, Buchwald's syndicated column thus began:

Richard M. Nixon, will you please go now!
The time has come.
The time is now.
Just go.
Go.
Go!
I don't care how.
You can go by foot.
You can go by cow.
Richard M. Nixon, will you please go now!
You can go on skates.
You can go on skis.
You can go in a hat.
But
Please go.
Please!…

Nine days later, Nixon announced his resignation. Buchwald claimed credit, Ted claimed intent, and both bemoaned the fact that they hadn't collaborated sooner.
*****************************

What if we get enough people to send this around, to the media, the lawmakers, friends and family? With Nixon's secretary and Rumsfeld's Secret spy force in the news, it could be perfect timing. It has historical significance, but its somewhat amusing and not directly threatening. We can say something like this:

With thanks to Theodore Geisel:

George W. Bush, will you please go now!
The time has come.
The time is now.
Just go.
Go.
Go!
I don't care how.
You can go by foot.
You can go by cow.
George W. Bush, will you please go now!
You can go on skates.
You can go on skis.
You can go in hat
But
Please go...
Please!...
